Chapter 8Shafaq's POV -
"Daddy is he really standing there?" I muttered with a smile on my face
"Yes, he is standing here because of you, and now he can only stay here until tomorrow! He needs to arrange another place for himself after that!"
"No, it's okay. I can stay at the warehouse." He said.
"Amina begum make up the guest room for him! I didn't pay such a high price for him to start kidnapping again!"
I was so happy I couldn't speak, it was hard for me to believe that he was in my home. Mom took him to the guest room, the whole day passed, I wanted to talk to him, I wanted to see him.
It was late at night, and Mommy and Daddy were asleep. I couldn't resist seeing him. I went to his room and knocked on the door.
"Come with me." I whispered as he opened the door.
"Where?"
"Trust me, I won't kidnap you." I said with a smirk.
He began to laugh, and he looked damn cute.
"Shhh." I covered his lips with my hands. I looked in his eyes, and I finally found my peace. I have finally found my tranquility, finally found my purpose in life. I have finally found him!
"You were about to take me somewhere." He asked.
"Yes." I dragged him behind me. I took him into the garden, it was a rainy night. The cold wind was blowing, and I made him sit on the swing, and I began sliding it.
"Rehaan?" I asked.
"Hmmmm?" He replied.
"Will you be my best friend for this night?" I asked.
"Best friend?" He asked while glaring at me.
"Yes, am I not worthy of becoming your best friend?" He smiles, "Rehaan, say something!"
"What?" He replied.
"I asked you something. Will you be my best friend?"
"No!" He said.
"But, why?"
"Because, I am not worthy of your friendship!" He said.
"That's not true!"
"It is true! I am telling you again, stay away from me!"
"No, I can't. I can't control that!" He dragged me towards him and made me sit beside him.
"Shafaq, there is nothing inside of me except pain and darkness. I need you to stay away from this darkness or it will eat you alive. I can give you nothing but pain, and that's what I've been giving you until now. My soul is lifeless!" He told me.
"But, I love this darkness. I want to discover the light in this darkness, I want to make your soul come alive!"
"Shafaq, please. Don't be mad, it will hurt you!"
"I am ready to get hurt by you, because I love the wounds that you give me." I smiled at him.
"Shafaq, please don't cry. Don't ruin your life because of me!" He pleaded.
"But my life is already ruined, and it can only become better if I stay with you!"
"Shafaq, why are you doing this!"
"Because I love you. I love all of you!"
"You don't love me Shafaq."
"What if I said the same to you!" I asked him.
"Shafaq, I murdered my own father! He yelled as tears started to flow out of his eyes.
I was shocked, "What? I don't believe you!"
"Shafaq, you have to believe me. That is the truth, I murdered my own father!" He yelled out in pain. He was crying, and he looked helpless. I couldn't stop myself as I hugged him, I wanted to share his grief, his pain, his wounds.
"Rehaan, you can't break like this!" I whispered to him.
I was hugging him so tightly I could even hear his erratic heartbeat. I felt his pain and the guilt he suffered from the past years.
"Rehaan, calm down." He only grabbed me tighter.
"Shafaq, I swear I didn't do anything on purpose!" He mumbled.
"I know, Rehaan. Calm down and tell me what happened." I coaxed him. He stood up and dragged me behind him, we began to walk bare foot on the wet grass.
"Three years before, when I was eighteen, I returned home from my hostel to surprise my parents. It was late at night and it was pouring heavily outside, and as I reached home I thought to use the window to get inside. The entire house was dark, the windows and doors slamming from the blowing wind. Suddenly, I heard the scream of a woman, and I began to walk downstairs, and I was shocked when I saw my father beating my mother. There were other mean with him, helping beat my mother. She was crying out but there was no one to help her!"
The tears were streaming heavily down his face,"I hurriedly rushed over and shouted at them to stop, but no one listened. I started to look for a way to help her and I noticed a gun on the floor, and I picked it up and shot my father and the other men. I picked up my mother and rushed outside to find help, she was barely breathing. There was no one to help us, I screamed for help, but none came. My mother breathed her last breath in my arms, I died with her that night. I lost myself, our happy family ended that night. The dark night, that dark house, that darkness captured my heart, my soul and me. I am that darkness that will never illuminate!"
