It's been five exhausting and lonely years since his mother's death as well as his elder sister Evelyne leaving for her adventure. Since then, Haru had been training ferociously with mage tutors. He had been uncovering his hidden magical prowess and improving his skills as a person. Preparations for him to set out on his journey had almost been completed. Haru was exploring in the great Library of Kyn and had noticed a book open on a desk; an open file, depicting events and powerful figures who had taken the world by storm, harnessing immense powers who have become notable and famous figures. The file stated: The Great Human/Aloran War; Long ago before our time of great prosperity and peace, destruction and death was a blight among the lands of Nastrith; hardly any life was spared between the alorans and humans. Countless innocent lives were lost. Forlorn women and children weren't even spared from the misery of war. Tensions were so tight between these two races that hope seemed to be an old, senile fools dream of salvation, yet 11 immensely powerful mages miraculously emerged: 5 elves and 6 humans all rivalling in strength stepped up and fought both the human and elven armies and overwhelmed them completely, their power was so great even immortality wasn't far-fetched for them.
Haru was intrigued by this recount and couldn't resist turning page after page to uncover more information: Those struck with famine, poverty, agony and loss from the conflict finally had their prayers answered. The war had ended and these eleven mages were revered as the heroes of Nastrith, becoming deities referred to as the "Gods Eleven" that are worshipped to this day.
Since the Great War, those who were interested in magic only increased from then on, yet there were fewer and fewer mages who seemed to rival the legacies these eleven have left. However, those who are deemed strong enough to bring destruction to the entire continent are given a classification separate from their ranks as mages. They are known as "The Rakshasa" and to this day there are currently 7 of them, with the most notable of the group being the elven bounty hunter known as Nezira Melakara; and the most powerful of them all, one who is said to even rival the Gods Eleven in power, Indus Shevarune
Haru wanted to keep the file but since it was an official document, he was not allowed to take it. So he looked around himself suspiciously, stood up, cautiously slipped it under his shirt and stealthily meandered around all the bookshelves and towards the exit. It was now in reach, so Haru had checked his surroundings and saw no one. He made a break for it and as soon as he had left the library he had run straight into the librarian with a huge impact. They both fell to the ground. "Ouch! What was that for?" She asked. "Sorry I, I checked the time and realised that mother wanted me back home quite a while ago." Haru nervously replied.
"Well next time can you please watch where you're going." the librarian requested. "I will miss. Sorry for running into you." Haru then got up and carried on running home. Haru spent most of his days in that library, and he has never once stolen anything. He felt a surge of what felt like adrenaline, but slightly different, rush through his body. This was only interrupted by the sight of a rowdy crowd outside Haru's home. In shock, Haru dropped the old book and dashed to his doorstep. He pushed past the crowd and entered his door, which was already open. He saw the local doctors standing next to his mother. Haru knew what was coming next. Hesitantly one of the doctors had approached Haru. "You must be Haru. I, am sorry to inform you, but, your mother. Layla has just passed away. A local had walked past your house and saw Layla having a serious coughing fit, so they came and called us doctors to check it out." He reluctantly continued.
"But, by the time we arrived, it was too late. I truly am sorry Haru" He ended.
Haru was speechless. Tears, pouring down his face like a massive waterfall. He went over to his mother who was lifelessly laying on her bed and caved in. Falling to his knees, Haru let out a great scream of pain and regret, for not being there for his mother. "I, I wasn't there for you mother! I was too caught up in my interest and pushed you aside." he cried. "Mother, on this day I will make a promise. I will accomplish my newfound dream of becoming a Rakshasa and find father." Haru had made a promise he knew he couldn't keep, yet he swore by his heart he would accomplish this goal. Even if it meant travelling all around Nastrith to find him. However for Evelyne, that was a different matter. Haru already knew where she was, well sort of.
