(Clementine P.O.V. AJ doesn't exist but Clem stayed with Javi)

"Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, shit. This hurts so bad."

Each movement I made had me cringing from the rough fabric of my shirt rubbing against my reddening skin. I was just now walking away from a 5 hour shift in the garden and the sun was unforgiving today, my burnt upper body was evidence of that. I wanted to do nothing but to get Kate to lend me her Aloe Vera and lather it on before passing out in my bed.

My fist knocked hurriedly on Javi's front door, in hopes of getting my hands on that magical green healing gel.

"Javi? Kate? Anyone home?"

I was about ready to ram through the door when it swung open to reveal a jackass. Well, it was Javi but what's the difference?

"Hey, Clem- OH MY GOD! GIRL, YOU ARE LOOKING LIKE A LOBSTER! HA!"

I very much wanted to throttle the now laughing man, but decided against it as my skin began pulsing once more. My jaw clenched in pain and I gave Javi my best "I'm going to beat your fucking ass if you keep laughing" glare. Javi immediately straightened himself under my hard gaze and cleared his throat.

"Did I say lobster? Psh, more like a gorgeous lobster! You are going to have the best tan in all of Richmond! I'm so jelly."

I groaned at Javi's attempt to sound cool and decided I didn't feel like arguing with Javi today.

"Gee thanks, Javi. Does Kate have any Aloe Vera? My skin is literally on fire and I feel like I'm dying."

Javi gave me one more amused glance before hollering for Kate. She appeared behind him in seconds and started laughing as soon as she seen me. My hand flew to my forehead in frustration and I yelped at the pain, causing Kate's laughter to subside.

"Sorry, Clem. I let Gabe take my bottle of Aloe last week because of his sunburn from working on the gate with Javi. He should be back from his chores by now, go ask him for it."

I nodded my head in thanks and began walking towards Gabe's apartment, thankful he lived next door to me. I guess he was an alright kid, but I'm pretty sure he still has a crush on me from when I first joined Javi's group. That was nearly 3 years ago and his lingering glances at me haven't gone away, only eased up and he's become more discrete when looking. I'd be lying if I said I didn't like the way he smiles at me at breakfast or when he'd come over to borrow some random thing from me in the middle of the night.

I guess that's why I could hardly keep a smile from my face as I knocked on Gabe's door. My fist was still partially knocking when the door opened and I jerked it back as it came in contact with Gabe's chest.

"Er sorry about that. Kate said you had some Aloe Vera and I'm in desperate need for it, so could I use some?"

Gabe, who looked like he just got up from his bed, smiled sleepily before nodding and motioned for me to stay put. I waited patiently as he went back into his apartment and returned with that green goo goodness.

"Here ya go, Clem. Do you need any help with applying it?"

I would bet money that my jaw nearly hit the ground at Gabe's question. It seemed he was still slightly asleep as his own eyes widened as he realized what he had asked me and clasped a hand over his mouth.

"Oh mierda! I'm so sorry, Clementine. Shit!"

I picked my jaw off the ground as Gabe stumbled over apologies and continuing to swear to himself. I honestly had to laugh at his distraught expression and took the Aloe Vera from him.

"Thanks, but I think I can handle it. I'll give it back when I'm done with it. Thanks, Gabe!"

I spun on my heel and marched into my own apartment as Gabe mumbled his goodbye before I closed my door. I stripped my tank top off and flung it God only knows where and began applying the soothing gel, only to realize one little problem. I couldn't reach my back and shoulder blades, where the severity of my burns resided.

"You've gotta be fucking kidding me. Why? Why me?"

I asked thin air and looked with a grimace at my front door before swallowing my pride and walking towards it. I was still in my sports bra and considered going to grab another shirt before remembering that Gabe had grown up and wouldn't lose his shit if he saw me in only my sports bra. I opened my door and knocked on Gabe's door once more before I lost the nerve to do it. Sounds of swearing and things being dropped sounded behind the door before Gabe answered the door.

"Hey, did you need something el- where is your shirt?"

I coughed awkwardly as he began to stare and I snapped my fingers to capture his attention back up to my face. My hand outstretched towards him and shoved the Aloe Vera in his hands. Gabe snapped out of it and stepped back to let me inside before showing me his couch and we both sat down in silence as he began applying the gel to my back. I sighed in relief as the burning sensation stopped and was diminished by the cool gel. My body relaxed into the couch from the comfort of being healed and nearly cried out as Gabe stopped rubbing.

"Why'd you stop?!"

I looked back to see Gabe smiling and handing me the bottle of Aloe.

"I'm finished."

Disappointment was probably written all over my face and Gabe scratched the back of his neck.

"Well, you do need to re-apply once a day for about a week. So, how about you come over every day after our chores and help you with it?"

I found myself already getting excited about tomorrow and nodded my head in agreement before waving goodbye to Gabe as I walked back into my apartment. Before going to bed, I took a glance in the mirror and seen my red cheeks and knew that color wasn't only from the burn.
