' We're all just lost souls, aren't we? '
The forest was an array of vibrant greens, Corey was amazed at how something so beautiful could have come from something so tragic.
They even passed through what Corey assumed was an orchard that was filled with bright purple flowers that she hesitated to touch before Monty nodded his consent.
Being born on Farm station he knew a lot about these things and Corey trusted him to tell her what was what so that she could avoid death by tropical plant.
A smile played at her lips as she twisted the blossom between her fingers, watching as Jasper observed an interaction going on between Finn and Octavia.
Jasper nudged his best friend "Now that my friend is game." He bragged.
Corey raised an eyebrow but didn't say anything.
Monty picked up one of the flowers and held it out "That my friend is Poison Sumac."
Corey snorted as Octavia swatted the flower from her hair "What! It is?" She cried.
"The flowers aren't poisonous they're medicinal, Calming actually." He spoke before popping the flower in his mouth, Corey scrunched up her nose as she sent her friend a look of disgust.
"His family grows all the pharmaceuticals on the Ark." Jasper filled in as Clarke turned around.
"Hey guys, would you try to keep up." She spoke with an accusing glare towards the group.
"Come on Clarke," Finn jogged up to the blonde, gesturing to the forest "How do you block all this out?"
Clarke shrugged "It's simple, I wonder why haven't we seen any animals? Maybe it's because there are none. Maybe we've already been exposed to enough radiation to kill us." She ranted "Sure is pretty though." She added before turning and heading off.
"Ever the optimist Cousin, really, and you wondered why I always had more friends growing up." Corey teased, a playful smirk on her lips as Clarke turned to glare at her, the others snickering in amusement.
"Did you say Cousin?" Finn suddenly pipped up, looking confused.
Corey hummed in reply as she nodded "Yep, our grandparents hid my Dad in the walls for almost his entire life before they passed, then my Aunt -- Clarke's Mom -- continued hiding him," Corey paused slightly before turning to look at an intrigued Finn "Ever heard the names Grace Romera and Thomas Griffin?"
Smirking when Finn's eyes practically bulged from his head, Corey continued "My parents," She hummed absently as she recalled the story "Hid me in plain sight instead of trying to keep me from the public eye like my grandparents had with my father. I was allowed to be seen in order for people to think it was normal when they would see me in the halls."
"As a result I made friends and had a semi-normal childhood until my dad was discovered and my parents were floated for their crimes, I was seven when I was locked up." She finished.
Everyone seemed to have stopped as Corey retold her story, the others in shock whilst Clarke sent the younger girl a sad look.
