The Way I used To Be

Chapter 1

How is it that for the first time in 21 years, I was late to class? I don't know how I managed to be late but it seemed as if life was sending me a signal.

"Hey! Watch where you're going!", a girl yelled at me when I accidentally pushed her as I ran across campus.

I was trying to find my designated building, that was on the opposite side of where I was currently at. When I finally arrived, I quickly ran to my class.

When I got there, I saw jungkook pointing and laughing at me. My chest was about to explode and I was trying really hard to catch my breath.

Jungkook has been my best friend since I can remember. He has always been by my side, from kindergarten where we used to play the main characters from our favorite books to high school, where he had to deal with me rambling about breakups and crushes.

"You're late" Jungkook says with a mocking tone in his voice.

"No shit Sherlock! Next time don't even ask me for the homework ", I scoff.

By now he is laughing so hard that his bunny teeth are showing which makes me laugh too, "Calm down, you're lucky that professor is late, you can relax" he says while he pokes my arm.

"Where's Jess?"I ask while I sit next to him, still gasping for air.

I am indeed out of shape. Those cardio sessions that I skipped are showing now.

"I don't know", he shrugged.

"Im gonna text her, she's supposed to be here by now" I say as I was taking my phone out.

"C'mon now, you know she's always late, and you know what she is doing and who's she's doing" jungkook says raising his eyebrows insinuating what I already know it's true.

-Y/N: WHERE ARE YOU HOE?-

I stared at my phone for a couple of seconds. She usually texts back quickly.

Jess and I have been inseparable ever since we met. I truly believe that she's one of my soulmates. Jess, Jungkook and I have a special bond since we're all the same age and have been together since kindergarten.

And I do believe that we have more than one soulmate and that a soulmate doesn't have to be your lover, it can be your friends and even family.

-JESS: I am running to class 🏃‍♀️ I overslept at Namjoon's last night 🤭-

I facepalmed myself. Of course she's late, and of course, she was with Namjoon. I'm not even surprised anymore.

"Did she text back?", Jungkook asked

"Yeah, she was with Joon oppa",

"Told you", he rolled his eyes.

Ever since Jess and Namjoon started dating, they never leave each other. It's annoying but their love story is actually pretty funny, also kinda cliche. Namjoon being the fool that he is asked Jess for help because he liked a girl but he didn't know how to confess to her, at the end, they ended up falling for each other.

I got out of my thoughts when I saw Jungkook waiving at someone from the corner of my eye, when I looked up I saw Jess getting closer to us with a wide smile.
