Tonight's the night! The night you've been waiting for for months! The night that you hoped would distract you from all the shit that has been going on at school recently.
Driving to the venue of Demi Lovato's concert, you tried not to think too much about you being alone there. Let's just say - you don't have many friends at school. Any, to be honest. And so when your mom asked if you wanted two tickets for your birthday instead of the one you asked for, you had to come up with an excuse. One that wouldn't give away the fact you have been well and truly isolated at school because of the rumours Melissa spread about you. Melissa being you're all-time least favourite person, who thinks it's funny to kick you around outside class. And laugh in your face about it along with her two side-kicks, Tate and Cara. One would perhaps consider her the antagonist of this story...if you were important enough to have a story written about you, that is.
"Thanks, mom," you say over your shoulder, ducking out of her car as she pulls up to the arena.
"Alright, have a nice time, darling," she called, "Do you know where Jenna is?"
"Yeah, she's inside," you rush out, "I'll text you when the concert's finished."
"Okay! See you later," she waves before driving off.
There was no Jenna. There hadn't been since she completely abandoned you after Melissa spread that thing about you making out with the janitor in the broom cupboard. Some of the things she spouts are so ridiculous that you have no idea how anyone believes them. But apparently, they do. You wonder if it's just because other people are too scared to call her out on lying...or if they actually believe you are weird enough to do something like that. Anyhow, your mom thinks you and Jenna are still friends so it was an easy enough tale to spin when she was worried about you being here by yourself.
You don't want your mom to know the trouble you're having. She has enough to worry about with her stressful job at the hospital. And besides, you can handle yourself. You've managed to numb yourself to the insults thrown at you along the school corridors so that they no longer hurt. And the physical injuries heal quick enough that you have been able to hide them from her...so far.
Heading straight for your directed seat, you just make it in before the lights dim and the music starts.
Just enjoy it - it will be fun. No one can hurt you here.

The show was amazing. Even better than you expected and the excitement of it all was still lapping at your senses. You hadn't given a second thought to the fact you had no one to share the experience with. You swayed along with the rest of the crowd, singing your heart out with everyone else.
Except, that is, for the three figures you caught sight of further forward than you. Even though it was just the backs of their heads you saw for the best part of two hours, there was no mistaking them. I guess that makes sense though. When you are on constant alert for an attack by them, you have to be able to recognise them from all angles.
You watched as Melissa, Tate, and Cara amble confidently towards the exit. Keeping your head down, you fired a quick text to your mom to ask her to pick you up. If you time it right, you might be able to make it out and into her car before they even pick up on the scent of your fear. One can only hope.
Why the fuck are they even here?! Couldn't they have just given you one night? One night to have fun without being bombarded by threats of injury from them?
You know these thoughts are futile though. Because why would they even care? They don't care that they are hurting you! They don't care that they are making life a living hell for you! So when they came to the show tonight, they didn't care about how, as soon as you spotted them, you had to force yourself not to dissolve into a panic and run out the arena.
