The next day was a Wednesday. And Wednesday's are always slow-going, aren't they? Well, this one was, at least. And it was, even in Charms.
Literally thirty seconds after the students were given their feathers, Lily had hers off the table and floating up into the air. The others hadn't even picked up their wands yet!
"Well done, Miss Potter. Well done." Professor Flitwick commented.
Lily looked past Flitwick to a girl who was glaring angrily at her. Lily recognized her as the girl put into Ravenclaw. The one Scorpius had been watching get sorted.
Lily looked to her partner. It was Natalie. "Natalie, do you know that girl over there?"
"The one who looks like she wants to Avada Kedavra you? That's Tiffany Weatherford. Ravenclaw. Kind of surprising, ain't it? A stupid Ravenclaw?"
"Weatherford?" LIly asked. "As in, Lucas Weatherford's sibling?"
"Cousins, actually. They're totally the same though. Snooty, think everything of themselves. Out of generations and generations of Slytherins, they were put in houses other than the one they were supposedly destined to. Crazy, right?"
"Yeah. Kind of like me, Albus, and Hugo. I'm glad to be in Slytherin, though. But poor Hugo has to put up with that girl."
Lily glanced over at her cousin and he smiled to her.
"Miss Potter, seeing as you got done so quickly, maybe you'd like to help some of the other students?" Flitwick asked her, probably annoyed with the fact that she and Natalie had been talking in class.
"Yes, sir. Of course." Lily got up and went over to Hugo's table right away.
"Hey cousin. Are you holding up alright?" Lily asked him.
"I really would've preferred to be a Gryffindor, but yes, I'm fine. I've made one good friend."
Lily glanced back and saw Flitwick had his eyes narrowed at her. Lily turned back towards Hugo.
"Okay, now hold your wand like this. Yes, like that. Swish and flick, remember. And now repeat after me. Wingardium Leviosa."
"Wingardrium Lerviosaw."
After 3 or 4 tries, Hugo became the second in the class to master the spell. So for the rest of the class period, Flitwick had Lily go around the room and help all of the other kids. The only person that didn't figure out how to do it correctly was Tiffany, but Lily purposely skipped over her. Why should she help someone who's cousins with a jerk? She didn't seem too friendly herself, either.
After Charms was Defence Against The Dark Arts, taught by Professor Merrythought. Yes, the same Professor Merrythought that had been teaching back when Tom Riddle attended Hogwarts. After Snape died, McGonagall appointed the one teacher she knew she could trust.
Lily, Natalie, and Jacklyn sat next to each other in the very front of the room. As soon as Merrythought entered the room, Lily instantly regretted it.
"Hello class, I am Professor Merrythought," She said as she walked up the aisle.
"Today we will be learning a very simple spell. It's called Lumos. It's a spell to conjure light," She said.
"Would anyone like to give it a go?"
No one moved a muscle.
"Ah, no volunteers? I'll just have to pick someone then. How about... How about you, young lady?" Lily cringed when Professor Merrythought pointed to her.
Lily reluctantly picked up her wand. She flicked it, muttering the incantation "Lumos".
The tip of her wand lit up and the other first years oohed loudly.
"Well done Miss-"
"Potter." Lily said.
"No wonder! Been receiving lessons from your aunt, haven't you?" Professor Merrythought asked, beaming.
Lily swallowed, then nodded. She didn't like getting special attention just because she was the daughter of the 'famous Harry Potter'. She was her own person. She also liked being intellectual, but not when she was forced to present it, as Professor Merrythought had just done. Lily just wanted to be normal.
"Are there any other spells you can do?" Professor Merrythought asked her.
Lily looked down at her desk. "Maybe..."
"Could you show us? Please?" She asked.
Lily sighed.
Flicking her wand in the direction of Professor Merrythoughts desk, Lily said, "Accio quill."
A large fawn feather was lifted magically off the desk. It fluttered through the air, and landed right in front of Lily. Lily looked up at Professor Merrythought.
She was beaming, when she said, "10 points to Slytherin. Well done Miss Potter."
The remainder of the lesson was similar to Charms. Merrythought made Lily help the other kids. Lily could only roll her eyes whenever they got it wrong. She didn't get what was so difficult about the spell. Lumos. That's it. Just say the incantation, and that's it. Lily had gotten it when she was SEVEN. She hadn't even used her own wand! But Lily looked past that, and made an effort to help her fellow classmates.
By the end of the lesson, she was more than pleased to get to dinner. Her day was exhausting.
After stopping by the dormitory to drop off their books, Lily, Jacklyn, and Natalie made their way to the Great Hall.
"So did you have fun in Defence Against the Dark Arts?" Jackyln asked dryly.
"Yeah. Having the teacher reward you like a prized dog. So much fun!" Lily said sarcastically. "Seriously! I don't care if I'm Harry Potters daughter. I get loved by teachers and hated by 5th years. It's getting really old."
"I'd just ignore them. I mean, yeah, they do seem to gawk over you, but they're only jealous! Especially Luke Weatherford. And you don't want to get in any more fights. You got off lucky last time." Natalie said.
"And you don't want to don a bad name to the Potter's." Jacklyn added.
"Honestly? I don't give a darn about adding a bad rep to my heir. But I do agree. If I would've gotten detention, my father would have killed me. There's no way I'm risking it."
At that note, they had arrived to the Great Hall. Lily uncomfortably played with the collar of her robe as she took a seat between Jacklyn and Tom at the Slytherin table. She felt several eyes on her. When she lifted hers to meet theirs, they discreetly looked away.
"Are you okay, Lily?" Tom asked, noticing her discomfort.
"Uh, yeah," She said, before sighing. "I just hate being teacher's pet." She explained what happened in her two classes as they ate. Tom nodded and even added his two cents once in a while.
"I just... I hate people talking about me behind my back. When I walk down the corridor, I can hear them whisper, and it just makes my blood boil. They don't know me! They only THINK they know what they read. It's infuriating."
Tom nodded. "Yeah this is my first year here, too." Lily's eyes widened. "So I am often victim to stares as well. It's calmed down, though." Tom added.
"I thought you were here all along?" Lily asked.
"Nope. I used to go to a private school in the East. I decided to transfer here this year, though."
Lily said nothing, but her father's letter sprang back into her mind. His accusations actually seemed to make some sense now, but Lily still couldn't betray Tom. It just wasn't right. Her father would have to understand.

Yesterday was my besties brithday (minorityvsmajority), and I had meant to upload this yesterday, but I never got to it. So when better to upload, then on Harry Potter's birthday?
This chapter was more a filler than anything. It makes me cringe just reading it, but I had very bad writers block. Expect me to upload atleast once a week from now on!
