I've been back and forth on what ideas I want to incorporate into the story and for now I'm just going to follow the regular Naruto plot. But in the future I might end up shaking things up and adding things in.

That night I lay tossing and turning in bed for hours unable to sleep with the possibility of having or not having a soulmate out there. If there wasn't one everything would go back to being normal, but I couldn't hide the disappointment I would feel.

But what if there was someone out there that was mine? I pushed the thought away. It doesn't matter. It took me a while to fall asleep, but finally I did.

I awoke to the smell of pancakes grilling and a nagging feeling in my chest. I got up and made my way out to the kitchen and was hit with a scent that made me completely stop in my tracks. I sniffed and I identified the smell of pine and a warm roasting fire.

I shot my eyes open and was face to face with my soulmate. Otherwise known as Kakashi.

I stumbled back in complete mortification.

"No I refuse to accept this." I turned and ran out of the house to the forest. I heard Kakashi yelling behind me, but I ignored it. If fate was going to play me, then I would play fate right back.

I ran and ran until I was certain I was miles from the village and then I realized that I was still in my pajamas and I wasn't wearing shoes.

Screw it.

I began my slow trek back to the village, and took in the peaceful scenery around me. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad. I could just ignore him. But you live with him dumbass.

I refused to go back to Kakashi, so I decided to go to Sakura's house instead knowing that she would still be getting ready to look good for Sasuke.

I tried to covertly make my way over to her house, but my terrible sneaking skills in the daylight just made it look even worse than casually walking in my pajamas, so I ended up doing that the rest of the way.

After making my way across the village with way too much attention, I was finally at Sakura's house. And instead of having to talk to her parents I ended up falling through her window.

"Ayame, what the hell?" Sakura's turned to me in slight mortification. I stood up and shrugged.

"You have any clothes I can borrow, as you can see I forgot mine." I gestured to my gray pajama shorts and blue button up shirt. Sakura nodded and went in her closet.

"Also if you have some shoes that'd be nice too," I called to her. She came back holding a red wrap top and some white shorts. I quickly changed and she handed me a pair of black shoes.

"Thank you Sakura, you're a lifesaver," I laughed at her displeased expression,"also you can have those pajamas in compensation for your clothes."

"No it's fine, just pick them up after we meet our ninja teams." I nodded and we both headed to the academy.

On the walk over, I observed Sakura. She portrayed a more ditsy girl side, but she was pretty smart underneath it all. She just needed to learn more common sense to compliment her book smarts.

We arrived in a few minutes and I found that everyone was already there. Naruto and Sasuke seemed particularly flustered today, but I shook it off. It's none of my business.

I sat in my usual seat next to Hinata and Iruka arrived shortly after.

"Okay class, now for the time you've all been waiting for, it's time to announce your teams," Iruka smiled brightly at all of us.
