Quick Author’s Note: Hey everyone! I have finally written enough to post my new story! If you’ve read I Dare You, this story will kind of be similar to that (but not really). ANYWAY, enjoy the first chapter!

ALSO, the picture is of the main character, Darcy.

Chapter One

“Darcy! You better be awake by now!”

I groaned and put my pillow over my head, ignoring my mother’s call from downstairs. I wasn’t ready for another week of school just yet.

Just when I felt myself drifting back to sleep, something heavy jumped onto my bed. I knew exactly what that ‘something’ was, too.

                “Get off, fat ass!”

“Is that really how you’re going to greet the person who brought you a muffin?”

My eyes flashed open as I sat up in my bed immediately. Any mention of food got my attention, even on a gloomy Monday morning.

“I take it back!” I exclaimed, reaching for the bag.

“Not so fast. First you have to get up and get ready for school. Then you’ll get your muffin.”

“But Matt,” I whined, until I was cut off by his stern look. My shoulders slumped as I gave in and got out of my bed. I grabbed some clothes and quickly stepped into my bathroom to change. When I was done, I put my long brown hair in a ponytail and slipped on my shoes.

                “Okay, I’m done! Muffin time!”

Matt grinned and handed me the paper bag. I instantly took a bite of the banana nut muffin. “Oh my gosh, this is so good. You know I love you, right?” I said as I chewed a huge bite of muffin.

Matt rolled his eyes at my un-ladylike manners. “Yeah, I know. Let’s get going now.”

                “You want any?” I asked.

“Not after you slobbered all over it,” he replied, walking out of my room.

                “I did not!”

                “Yes you did.”

“Whatever, you know you love the way I eat,” I joked. Matt shook his head and continued to walk ahead of me.

The truth is, we do love each other, except not in the traditional sense of the word. In simple terms, Matt has been my best friend since we could talk. We’ve always been there for each other, through the good times and the bad. I’m always there for him to tell him which skank to avoid going out with from school. He’s always there for me when another guy screws me over; he doesn’t just beat the guy up, either. No, he beats the guy up and then watches sappy movies with me as I stuff my face with comfort food.

The point is that we really are best friends. I also have two girl best friends, Elaine and Robin, but I’ve known Matt the longest out of anyone. Even after we made it to our senior year in high school with our own groups of friends, we’ve still made sure we remain best friends no matter what.

I got in Matt’s car soon enough, arriving at school just on time. As Matt and I walked into the school and went toward my locker, my eyes automatically found their way to a model of perfection.
