Chapter Fourteen

                “What do couples do together?”

Robin raised an eyebrow suggestively. “Are you seriously asking us that?”

“Yeah. I mean, besides the whole making out part, what else do they do?”

“It’s been a while since Darcy had a boyfriend,” Elaine said to Robin, as if I wasn’t sitting right there with them in the middle of the mall food court.

“That’s true. I guess she forgot how life with a boyfriend works,” Robin said sarcastically.

“Hey! I’m sitting right here. Just forget I asked, okay?” I said, starting to get frustrated with my two best friends.

“We’re kidding, Darcy,” Elaine laughed, putting her hand on my arm to calm me down.

“What do you want to know?” Robin asked.

I sighed, feeling my frustration dissipate. “I need to do something with Trey to make Julian jealous.”

They both nodded, silently thinking of some suggestions. Finally, Elaine offered her thoughts on my developing plan. “I think something simple will do the trick. You know, holding hands and maybe a kiss on the cheek.”

“And it has to be done somewhere in public. Like you’re on a date, when you run into Julian.”

I slowly nodded, thinking this over. “Julian works here. Maybe I could run into him when he gets off work?”

“That’s perfect!” Elaine exclaimed. “Is he working right now?”

“Yes, I saw him in his store when we walked by earlier.”

“Sounds like you got a plan now,” Robin stated.

I grinned, already starting to call Trey to get his butt over at the mall.

“What’s so urgent that couldn’t wait until tomorrow?” Trey asked immediately as he found me at the food court.

“It’s time to make that pretty face of yours useful,” Robin answered, while Elaine and I nodded in agreement.

                “What?”

I rolled my eyes and huffed. “Come on, I’ll explain on the way,” I said, grabbing his arm to pull him along with me.

“Tell us what happens!” Elaine called. I waved goodbye to them, knowing I wouldn’t see them until tomorrow. They both told me they had to leave before Trey arrived.

                “What’s going on?”

“It’s time to step it up.”

Trey continued to look at me like I was crazy. Perhaps he wasn’t totally off base either. “What is going on in that head of yours?”
