~Prod
Before the funeral, I told Prince my feelings about Sky. He told me that this wasn't the best time to tell her since we just had a service for her best friend! I could initiate some type of gesture that I want her to be my girlfriend but this all has to wait. I don't know what she's going to say. She'll probably think I'm some sick bastard but I'm willing to take that risk to be honest. I went into the room and see her sobbing. She looks up at me with her blood shot eyes.
"Hey Prod..." She sniffled. I came over to her and comforted her.
"Hey...." I rubbed her arm. "You gonna be okay?"
"I don't know." She sighed as she laid her head on my shoulder. "Nothing will ever be the same or get better. Without Lucky, I don't think I have that cheerful spirit I once had. I feel like I'll just be a Debby Downer, a sad sack."
"Sky, your best friend just died. You're going to be a sad sack!" I chuckled. "Sky, you'll be fine. Remember, time heals all wounds."
"But I doubt that this wound will ever heal."
"Sky, remember when you lost your mom. Didn't that wound heal? Weren't you over it?"
"Yeah, after like a couple of years. She really wouldn't want me to cry for her. She would want me to continue living until one day when I have a chance to escape."
"That's the same concept as Lucky!" I snapped my fingers. "She wouldn't want you to be crying for her, she would want you to continue living your life and make something of it. You don't have to worry the facility anymore! It's burned down to the ground and the guards are all arrested."
"You're right." She let out an exasperated sigh. "It's just that I don't want to accept the fact that my best friend is dead and gone, you know?"
"Yeah I know what you mean." I continued rubbing her arm. This led to a quiet silence. The thought of Sky being my girlfriend weighed heavy on my heart. I had to tell her. "Hey Sky?"
"Yeah?" She replied.
"Don't hate me for this, okay?"
"Why would I hate you?" She raised an eyebrow.
"Well..." I trailed off. "This has been weighing heavy on my heart for a while now..."
"Uh huh..." She brought her head up to face me.
"I like you." I blurted, causing her eyes to widen. "And I want you to be my girlfriend."
"Prod, really?! Right now?! Out of all times when I need a friend, when my best friend just died like two weeks ago?!?! That's foul if you're going to ask out a girl during the mourning of her best friend!"
"Yeah but I was just thinking that maybe I can help ease the pain of your loss."
"Prod, get out!" She pointed to the door.
"Come on Sky, I wasn't thinking about that--"
"WHY WOULD YOU NOT THINK ABOUT THAT?!!!" She roared. "You didn't even wait! You're so insensitive!"
"Maybe you of all people would know that when it comes to deaths, you think about the life they had here and what they accomplished. I'm sure Lucky accomplished a lot, not as much as you or her would like but hell it's more than I would ever accomplish in my sixteen years of living. For you to call me insensitive is just----ugh forget it!" I rolled my eyes before heading to the door.
