You walk into the cottage, not surprised to be greeted by an excited Aurora.
"Did you get them?!" She asks, tugging on your dress.
"Yes, here are your blackberries. Happy birthday Aurora!" You smile, setting the basket down.
"Where have you been?" Your aunties question.
"I was bathing in the stream," You reply, walking to the table.
You sit down and enjoy Aurora's party. The cake the fairies made is flopped and quite sad-looking, and you giggle.
"Aurora, your next birthday I'll make the cake," you whisper to her, and she giggles and nods.
Bedtime comes fast, and you slink into bed thankful for its comfort. The bed reminds you of a certain someone's strong arms, and the thought makes you smile.
Your bed is right under a window, and you can see the form of a raven. Cracking the window open, you motion for Diaval to hop in.
"You must be cold, come in," You whisper at him. He shakes his head stubbornly. Rolling your eyes, you motion for him to come in again.
He glances at you uncertainly. You sigh and pat the space beside you. He hops in and settles beside you, and you shut the window.
Sleep comes easy that night, as you listen to Diaval's even breathing as you fall asleep.

Upon waking, you see that Diaval is on the windowsill again. He must have moved there after he woke up. You smile at his dozing form and rise from the bed. After making breakfast, you walk out of the cottage without Aurora.
You maybe feel a tiny bit bad for ditching your little sister, but you want some alone time.
After a minute you realize you have a tail. Not a real tail, mind you, a tail as in someone following you.
"Diaval!" You greet him as he lands on a branch by your head.
He bows regally, making you giggle and curtsy back.
"How are you this day?" You ask, idly picking a leaf and folding it in your hand.
He nods and squawks happily.
"I'm glad," you beam, before someone interrupts.
"Y/n, come with me," Maleficent says, walking ahead of you.
Following behind her, you are surprised as she leads you to the wall of thorns protecting the Moors.
"Godmother, why are we here?" You puzzle as you gaze upon the insidious wall.
"I want to show you something." She replies, using her magic to move the thorns, creating a safe path through.
You follow her, Diaval flying a bit ahead, and take your first step into the Moors. Gasping in wonder, you spin in a circle, taking in the magical landscape and creatures. You laugh as a fairy flies in front of you and glances at you curiously.
"Maleficent, this is amazing! I've always wondered what lay beyond the wall of thorns. It this your home?"
"Yes, this is the Moors."
You inhale deeply and grin widely at Maleficent and Diaval. Another faerie creature floats past you, and you stare in awe. Wandering off, you follow the strange creatures to a stream.
Diaval caws knowingly at Maleficent, who turns him into a man. He smiles broadly at Maleficent.
"What?" She says, in an irritated voice, but the smile on her face speaks volumes.
"Nothing, mistress," he replies, following after you.
You had pause to examine a deep purple flower, and he catches up with you easily.
"So, is it everything you've imagined?" He asks, helping you stand up again.
"It's more marvellous than my wildest dreams. I've never seen anything so beautiful..."
I have, Diaval thinks, admiring you as you daintily dip your foot in the cool stream. After exploring the surrounding area thoroughly, you sit by the stream next to Maleficent.
"Thank you."
"You are very welcome. It is the least I can do."
"Maleficent?"
"Yes, child?"
"May I ask. . . Where are your wings? All the other fairies have wings."
"They were stolen from me. That is all I wish to say about the subject."
"Did Stefan steal them?" You ask, thinking back to the King.
She looks at you in surprise, "Yes, yes he did."
"Is that why you cursed Aurora and I? For revenge?" You whisper sadly.
"Yes. May I ask you a question?"
You nod.
"Why do you call him Stefan? He is your father, is he not?"
You bite your lip nervously, "No, Stefan is not my father. My mother, the Queen, had me out of wedlock. She was in love with a servant, whom I only met once, before she even met Stefan. It was all kept under wraps, but I knew Mother was always being judged for her decision. In a way, I suppose I was a curse to her."
You chuckle darkly, tears sprinting to your eyes at the memory of your mother. Maleficent only nods gravely, but Diaval speaks up.
"You're no curse, Y/n. You're a true blessing! You're the sweetest and kindest soul I've ever met, honestly." His gorgeous eyes delve into yours, making you smile at his sincerity.
"Thanks Diaval." You blush before asking the fairy more questions.
"Maleficent, what were your wings like?"
"They were brown and strong. So strong, and they never faltered, not even once. I could trust them, and they never let me down. They were so big they dragged behind me as I walked." She smiles at the memories of her wings.
"I wish I could have seen them."
"As do I."
She sighs, and so do you. Diaval chooses this moment to playfully fling mud at you. Gasping in outrage, you scoop up mud and throw it at him. He ducks, but you still managed to get mud on his face. Laughing hysterically, you both continue the mud war and more creatures join in the fun.
After the war dies down, you hop into the stream, which reaches up to your chest, and start to rinse the mud off. Diaval joins you in the water, washing mud off his face.
Grinning, you slyly pounce on him and push him under the water. Sputtering, he surfaces. He frowns before splashing you. You both engage in a water fight, ending in Diaval holding you tightly as he playfully splashes you before pushing you under the water.
Gasping as you break the surface, you come face to face with Diaval. Suddenly, time seems to slow. The only thing is this moment. And this moment is beyond wonderful.
Diaval's warm arms encircle you, and he starts to lean down slowly. You look up at him and start to close your eyes, dissolving into his strong embrace. The cold water rushes past you, and your eyes meet his hesitantly.
He coughs and moves his hands away from you. Your heart sinks, but you hide your feelings, and smile, getting out of the cold water.
You meander to Maleficent, who had witnessed the whole ordeal, start to finish. After you dry off, you walk home. Diaval follows, ever watchful.
