Facing the unknown

I woke up in a bed which definitely was not mine. My head hurt like hell. I couldn't process what happened when suddenly it hit me.

"Don't move. I'm almost done." A brunette who I have never seen in my life spoke to me.

"Owww," I screamed as she pricked me and took away my blood. I tried to stop her using whatever strength I have left in a spell but the spell didn't work. It was like I couldn't perform magic anymore.

"What the hell? Who are you? Where am I?" She chose not to reply to me and continued setting up some salt and kept a bowl of water in front of her.

"Are you witch? What are you doing? Why did you take my blood?" I continued to ask her questions and she continued to ignore me.

"Isn't she annoying, Lucy." Elena entered the room and told the brunette who I now know was named Lucy.

"Elena? Wha-" I really was confused by this point. There was something off about Elena. She had her hair curled. And the way she looked at me. It was odd. Something was odd but I couldn't put my finger on it just yet.

"Elena. Really? Why are you all so obsessed with her that you can't really see anything except her." She walked to Lucy, drew a knife from her back pocket, cut her palm and filled up a container with her blood. The cut on her palm healed instantly. That was when I realized that she wasn't Elena.

"Katherine," I addressed her.

"Took you long enough to figure it out and they say you are the most observant," she smirked at me.

"Why am I here? And what are you planning on doing?" I questioned her.

"Are you feeling okay?" She asked me with fake concern.

"Oh please, cut the act. We both know that we hate each other, then, why am I here? What is going on in your mind," I asked her again.

"I am here to win back the love of my life - Damon. I heard that you two have been close recently, any pointers for me. Is he the same old sweetheart or has he changed?" I know she was trying to make me mad.

"Yeah, just one pointer. Don't go near him, he might kill you." I answered in a sarcastic tone.

"Be as much difficult as you want, but I am going to get what I want tonight," She looked at me and then at Lucy, "Text me when you are done," she said and left.

"What are you doing?" I asked Lucy but she didn't answer and started the spell. I recognized the spell, it is a linking spell. She used my blood and then Katherine's. She is linking me to Katherine. Oh My God. I have to do something. I have to do something real quick. But what? My magic is not working. Damn it.

Later at the Salvatore Boarding House

DAMON'S POV

"So that's what we are going to do today at the Masquerade Ball. The end of Katherine Petrova, once and for all. Thank you." I concluded my great plan for killing the bitch to my small audience - Stefan, Alaric, Caroline, Jeremy. The audience also included Bonnie but I have no idea where she was. I deliberately kept Bella away from this one. I don't want her to see the bloodshed.

"Where are you?" I sent yet another text to Bella. I have been sending her texts and calling her all day, but she just doesn't respond. When it's Katherine you can't be really sure. Women pretended to be in the tomb for centuries.

"I know I was a jerk to you. It was kind of your fault. You know that but really, I need to know you're okay. NOW. So please call me back." Again no reply.

"Hey, what's happening?" Bonnie entered the parlor.

"We are gonna kill Katherine," replied little Gilbert.

"What?" A confused and shocked Bonnie said.

"I can explain," started my brother.

"Please do," begged Bonnie.

"We are gonna kill Katherine," replied my brother with a shrug.

"Where is Bella? She's not answering any of my calls?" She asked me.

"Why do you think I know where she is," I replied sarcastically. Bonnie looked at me in disbelief. I love pushing her buttons, annoying her. But despite my sarcasm I was really worried. Bella was ignoring me - that makes sense, but why was she ignoring Bonnie. That just doesn't make sense.

"What did you say to her?" She asked glaring at me.

"What?"

"What did you say to her that made her so mad that she's not even picking my phone?"

"Really Bonnie, you wanna do this with me right now. I am sure she's fine and having a little tantrum, that's all. She'll come around. Right now, we have work to do. Murder to plan. Alaric," I called to him signalling him to show us the weapons. Alaric shows the weapon to everybody.

"This works with compressed air. The trigger mechanism is up here. I have two of these in a different size." He goes on explaining how different weapons work.

"Thank you. Rick. Now make sure that Elena don't get to know what we are planning." I told him while giving him one of my best smile.

"Are you sure you guys don't want me there tonight?" He asked clearly disappointed to miss out on the action.

"No, I need you to stay with Elena. I don't want her to know about this." Stefan pleaded.

"Okay. Well, I'll make sure she doesn't leave my sight." Alaric assured Stefan.

"Alright, if anybody wants to back out, I'll understand." Stefan asked everyone.

"Yeah. Cold feet speak now. I don't want this going wrong if someone chicken's out. Caroline." I continued pointing at Caroline.

"I won't. Look, she killed me. Fair's fair. As long as there's no werewolf running around." She replied.

"Oh, I took care of Mason." I told her.

" And as long as Tyler doesn't kill anyone, he won't turn." Jeremy continued.

"Bonnie? Are you with us?" Stefan asked her. She contemplated and after a long pause said, "Okay, but no one gets hurt."

"Except Katherine. Tonight Katherine gets a stake through her heart." I concluded our meeting.
