So, working in the yard took us longer that we expected. We barely made it in time for dinner. But according to Toby, the Slenderman was satisfied with the result. I guess we did a good job? Toby told me that we were a good team. Well, nice.
Now dinner is over and most of the residents are sitting in the TV corner. For once, I'm sitting with them. I still don't know why. I rather go straight to my room after a meal, which I do most of the times. But not today.
I'm in a relatively safe place between Toby and BEN. Okay, Toby's not completely safe. I'm not all giddy-giddy after this afternoon. I still don't really trust him. I mean, he can still flip every second, right? But I do feel better around him. And you know, if I decide to sit here, I rather sit next to Toby than Jeff.
They're all watching TV and I'm kinda watching as well. They're all a bit hyped. The news channel is on; apparently they watch the news every day after dinner to see if any of their kills has been noticed already and how much attention they get. If you're a killer, that's something you should be proud of, I guess?
Everyone is just chatting around (not me, obviously. I just sit here in silence) until the familiar news intro tune starts playing. Jeff hushes everyone to silence and by the time the news reporter starts talking, everyone is listening attentively.
Let's be honest; I was expecting to see some shocking, spectacular shit, since they were all hyped like that. But it's disappointing, really. Three news reports about murder and all three are almost identical.
Lots of blood, mangled bodies, complete mess in the victims' houses. No witnesses, no suspects, nothing.
Is that what they're so excited about? About the fact that no one saw them, or something? Well, Toby said that's what makes a mission succesfull, right? Maybe they just want to make sure no one saw them. That would make sense.
Then, the news reporter starts talking about a completely different topic.
Missing persons.
And there's a big picture of my face on the screen. The newsman is talking, but I can't make out the words he's saying, despite the fact that it's dead silent in the living room. All I can do is stare at the TV. My face is staring right back at me.
Even after the news ended, and the outro has already played, everyone remains quiet. Some of them are staring at me.
Until Jeff starts laughing. "Hey [Name], your dad must've love you a lot, reporting you as missing after almost two weeks."
Jeff's words make me snap out of my trance. I know his words are supposed to hurt m, but they don't. It's old news; I know my dad didn't love me. I think the only reason he reported me as missing is because he has no one to beat up without me.
"S-Shut up, J-Jeff" Toby snaps at him, almost causing me to jump in surprise. "Y-You don't k-know what i-it's like to h-have a dad l-like *tic* that."
"Neither do you, dimwit," Jeff snarls. His eternal grin grows even wider. "You don't remember anything from your past."
Toby and Jeff glare at each other. The room is filled with tension. Toby puts a hand on one of his hatchets, and for a second it looks like he's going to chop Jeff into pieces. But then he agressively rises from his seat. "G-God-d-dammit Jeff," he growls, before storming off.
Jeff takes this as an opportunity to sit next to me. I immediately shuffle closer to BEN.
"What a wimp," Jeff snorts. Then he turns to me. "So, tell us about your loving dad, [Name]," he says.
I just glare at him. There's no way I'm gonna tell hum anything. "It's none of your business," I retort. Oops, wrong move.
Jeff's face darkens. He pushes himself off the couch and hovers over me, pressing his knife against my troath. Oh no, not this again. It always goes like this. Jeff acting like this, and then there's me whimpering like a wuss. It's not original anymore, and I'm done with it. I just keep glaring at him. I don't care if he causes me to bleed again.
"What was that?" Jeff asks in a low and threatening voice. I should probably back off now.
"You heard me Jeff," I reply coldly. Next to me, BEN groans. I'm sure I'm doing something very stupid right now. Toby's gone and BEN probably refuses to go against Jeff, like he always does. So I'm on my own. All the others in the room are just staring at us. The only sound is coming from the TV, which is now completely forgotten. "Go and bother someone else, asshole," I hiss. "Can't imagine that your dad loved you. Who'd love you, anyways?"
With a menacing growl, Jeff raises his knife and thrusts it into my shoulder. He immediately pulls it out, ready to strike again. I grab my shoulder while I try my best not to scream out in pain. I asked for this. Instead, I just groan, keeping my glare on him. He glares back, his eyes filled with rage. "Go away, Jeff," I say again with gritted teeth. I push him off with my foot, still holding my shoulder. It hurts like hell and I have to fight to hold back my tears. But I succeed. The anger is stronger than the pain.
"I will kill you," Jeff growls, finally backing off. He's panting heavily. "You're so fucking screwed." Then he storms out of the living room.
Everyone just stares at me while I'm trying to ignore the pain. Don't show any weakness.
BEN sighs. "That was so freaking stupid, [Name]." I can hear the worry in his voice. "Are you okay?"
"Sure," I hiss, my teeth still gritted to keep myself from screaming.
"EJ, she'll need stitches," BEN says to the blue-masked guy.
"Have fun BEN, it's her own fault." EJ shrugs without looking at us.
"Jack." BEN voice gets a stern tone. "Slender won't like it if you let her bleed to death."
Jack lets out an annoyed growl. "Fine," he says. "Follow me." He gets up from the couch he was sitting on and leaves the living room without waiting for us. BEN slowly helps me up and I try to ignore the throbbing pain as we walk after Jack, into the hallways. As we catch up with him, EJ turns around. "Piss off, BEN," he scowls. "I don't want your manipulative ass anywhere near me."
BEN stops in his tracks and looks at me, as if he's asking me if it's okay for him to leave. No, of course it's not fine. But I just shrug my shoulders, telling BEN that it's okay. So he gives me a weak goodbye-smile before turning around and walking back to the living room.
