Chapter 22

Today went by way too slow. Everyone was out for their missions or whatever they were doing. Most of them didn't return, not even for dinner. I haven't seen Toby, BEN or Red all day and Silver didn't return after he left. I guess everyone's pretty busy.

There were two things I had to do today -giving Toby his hoodie back and talk to BEN- and in the end, I did none of them. Today was boring, to say the least. I only spoke with EJ and Silver and that was in the morning. Now it's evening and I haven't spoken with anyone after that. So that means I've been in my room for the entire day, which is why I'm kind of done with today. So I guess I'm going to sleep early?

I'm about to change into my night gown when the door bursts open. Before I can even react, Hoodie and Masky barge into the room. Masky, who's holding a rope, quickly comes over to me anf covers my mouth with his hand, before I can scream. It all happens so fast that I'm slightly confused. By the time I processed everything, my hands are aleady tied together begind my back. I feel a rush of panic coming over me. What's happening? What are they doing? What's going to happen to me? They tied me up. That's definitely not a good sign. Previous experiences taught me that trashing around to break free won't work -it will only piss them off- so I just try to stay calm, despite the fear and panic that's spinning in my head.

Masky shoves me over to Hoodie, who grabs the rope that holds my wrists together. Then Masky stands in front of me. "Don't try to scream [Name], your friends aren't here to save you." His mask hides his expression but I perfectly imagine a devilish grin spread across his face. "I think the time has come for something fun to happen."

"I'm not interested." I try to sound calm and icy, trying to ignore the painful sensation of the rope scratching my skin.

"You don't have a choice," Hoodie scowls from behind me.

"That's right," Masky adds. "You're our toy, we can do whatever the fuck we want, [Name]. As for today, we're going on a mission." He pauses for a second. "And you are coming with us."

I can only look at him in terror. I know what this is about. I know what their missions are. Killing targets, picked by The Slenderman. What do they want me to do? Witness it? Letting me participate? I don't think I can stand the sight of someone getting murdered.

"Don't give me that face, [Name]," Masky pouts. "It'll be fun. Plus, I'm sure you must be curious about our missions."

I violently shake my head. This can't be happening. I don't want to go with them. BEN, Toby, where are you please help me. I keep staring at Masky. He's joking, right? He won't really take me with then on a mission. I try to kick Hoodie's legs so he'd let go of me. But with a sharp and painful twist of my arm, he renders me motionless.

Masky sighs. "Just stop, [Name]. It's useless." He glances up at Hoodie. "Let's go, just drag her with you if she refuses."

Of course, he won't have a problem with dragging me behind him. Masky leaves my bedroom and Hoodie tugs on the rope tied around my wrists, gesturing me to walk with him. Before he can drag me over the ground, I quickly follow the hooded figure male, despite the reluctance.

He pulls me through the hallways, over the stairs, while following Masky. I gave up on my attempts to break free. No matter how hard I'll try not to, I will join them on their mission. It will happen regardless.

"H-Hoodie," I blurt out, my voice cracking from fear. "Why are you taking me-"

"I don't know," he cuts me off with a growl. "It was Tim's idea. If you'd ask me, you're just a bother."

Before I know it, we're outside the mansion. It's dark and cold. Of course, they didn't give me the time to grab something warm. I'm still wearing the same T-shirt as this morning. I want to hug myself to shield the cold air away but I can't, since ny wrists are tied together. So I just follow Hoodie, shivering and trembling from both the cold and the fear.

We enter the surrounding woods and a sudden thought brings me into confusion. It was at least a three-day walk to get here. Are we seriously going to do that? I can't imagine. No one of the residents were out for their missions that long.

After a few minutes into the woods, we stop walking. Masky starts to look around and then he takes a few steps in a random direction, repeating this a few times until Hoodie sighs.

"A bit more to the right, Tim," he says.

Masky growls in annoyance, clearly not happy with the fact that he couldn't find what he was looking for.

"It's been years, Tim." Hoodie sounds amused. "And you still can't find them without my help."

"Shut up," Masky hisses. He walks a little to the right, fists clenched in anger and annoyance. And then he's gone.

He just... Disappeared into thin air. Not a single trace. What kind of spooky forest is this? Where'd he go? Another chill runs down my spine, and it's not because of the cold this time.

"You look stupid," Hoodi scowls as I stare at the spot Masky just disappeared from in utter shock. "C'mon, let's go." He tugs on the rope and I stumble after him as he walks in the same direction as Masky did before he... Wait, what? Are we going to do that, too?

I stars to panic a little but before I can even blink, the surroundings have changed. The forest is less dense, the trees are smaller and I can see streetlights in the distance.

Did we just teleport?

Before I can fully realize what just happened, Hoodie picks up the pace to catch up with Masky again.

"Almost there," Masky mutters as we walk behind him again. He sounds a bit happier than he did a moment ago. "It's only a fifteen-minute walk before we arrive at the town we have to be."

Saying that, he made me remember why they're out at this hour and why they brought me with them. Mission. I'm starting to feel sick and scared again. Masky glances over his shoulder to take a look at me. "Cheer up, [Name]," he says, a bit too cheerful. "I'm sure you'll find this interesting."

I've hated his guts since the moment I got to the mansion. But now I hate him even more. He's crazy, sick. But we're even; he probably hates my guts as well. Why else would he take me on a murder trip?

After a short walk, I see the lights of a small town up ahead. We walk past a tattered sign. It reads 'Forewood' in faded letters.

"We're here," Masky states.

We're here.

Oh God.
