It came to no surprise that all four of them ended up in a team and Ruby is recognized as the leader. They were hailed Team RWBY.

It's cute how the headmaster teamed them up. Well, the siblings did take the same relic so none of them wondered how. Once they were teamed up, they scattered for lunch and the rest of the day was theirs to take.

Yang suggested they see the CCT tower but that's back in Vale and that means walking so they settled in wandering around Beacon, looking around until the day was done. Weiss wasn't paying attention through all of it.

All the time they were walking and looking around, taking pictures of each other, she had different things in her mind. First off, does Ruby know why she's trapped in a Schnee Mansion? Why is she there at that old one specifically? Did her father want her to find a prisoner, much less a witch-vampire hybrid? Was that why she was given the mansion?

The more she asked, the more her frown progressed to glare towards the ground. Yang tried to make the situation better by buying her a milkshake and fries at the canteen but she simply played with her glyphs, freezing her drink over and over again. Ruby tried starting a conversation and asking questions at Weiss but she replied coldly. Blake's ribbon was twitching as she watched Weiss with a worried look on her face.

Only when they went home to rest was the only time she spoke properly to Ruby. Her mind was a little organized now that the day was over but her thoughts were not anything nice.

"Ruby, why do you think I ended up finding you?" Weiss asked, sitting at the plush couch of the parlor as a maid served her tea and cookies. Ruby joined her at an adjacent seat, looking at her oddly.

"Fate?" She answered with a small smile. Ruby didn't think so. Her father was the man who killed her mother but she held no grudges towards her. Weiss is innocent but she's starting to ask the right questions.

"Cruel of it, isn't it?" She asked, a smile on her lips. "You have yet to tell me how you, a beautiful young girl like you--ended up being in prison for half a century." The heiress asked, taking her teacup to her lips for a sip.

"Do you want the story now? You might hate your family for it, Schnee." Ruby warned, reaching for the plate of cookies to eat it herself. "It's not a story for bedtime."

"I enjoy stories from people. " Weiss shrugged. "Now please, I'm quite curious." She turned to the vampire with a serious and cold gaze. Ruby shivered when their eyes met. How cold. Like a turbulent blizzard.

Ruby ate a few more cookies before she placed the plate down, wiping her lips. "My mother is a well-known witch and she's a kind woman. " She started, dusting off her fingers of any crumbs. "She taught me how to wield magic and use it to my will. All was well until I injured myself with an accidental explosion. I was too young to produce my aura so I was bleeding. They didn't know what to do. Magic can't heal me fast enough. Qrow suggested I be turned just like him. Mom didn't want it but they had no choice." Ruby looked down at her hands. For a moment, she saw her injury back then, felt the pain of flesh torn off. Then it was gone.

"So Uncle Qrow turned me. Mom expected that I won't be able to wield magic anymore. That was until she discovered that I could. That meant trouble." The vampire gave a knowing look at Weiss who kept her blue eyes glued to the storyteller.

"Our family hid me, or at least my abilities, from the world. There I was, a new vampire-witch hybrid." She said, fiddling with the ruffles of her skirt. Ruby realized that she hasn't told anyone her story this way. It was new and frightening.

Weiss poured them both more tea as she listened. "Was there a history that a hybrid was ever made?"

"Yes. Wolves and Vampires were made before and they're around but no one can make a witch hybrid of any kind. Witches use nature-based magic while Vampires are a product of unnatural magic. With death, one must cancel out the natural magic." Ruby took her teacup and took a sip.
