The night is young. The scent of pine and crisp grass hung in the air like scent made to make you think of the past. A cold breeze blew by, waving the lit fires on candles on the forest floor. The air felt tense from the swing their way.
The grove was silent as if holding its breath. The vampire and the heiress locked eyes as they stood in the middle of a cast salt circle.
"What makes this feeding different?" Weiss asked amidst the silence that grew comfortable in the middle of them. Ruby traced the old book's cover and opened it with care, turning the parchment pages one at a time.
"I may have brought you here to make an oath." She answered, giving a small yet teasing smile on to the white-haired girl stood across her. "Maybe."
Weiss smiled, nervous. "An oath? For what? I never made you promise anything." She inquired. When did she declare a promise anything?
"Well, to be your knight." The vampire answered with a smile. Weiss laughed, the melody ringing through the trees.
"How so? And why? Ruby, you owe me nothing." The heiress replied, taking a step closer towards Ruby. The witch stopped turning the pages of the book, her eyes glued on a phrase Weiss cannot see on one page.
"I owe you much, Weiss Schnee. This is the least I can do--to be of service to you while you help me. " the witch turned her head to the wondering white-haired princess, a small smile on her lips. "Perhaps this way the things we find a curse be reversed."
"I was never a curse to you, was I?" Weiss asked, now worried about what Ruby thinks of her.
The girl considered Ruby a friend due to how much she's gotten to know her. Although, there might be a part of her that might be a burden to Ruby that she doesn't realize but others do.
"No, never. You were nothing but nice to me. A gracious and sweet host and a great friend if not more! That's why I want to do it. An oath to keep...is one way to keep me here. Another for me to pay you back for your kindness." Ruby recalled many times that Weiss was so mean and cold all a sudden bit she can look past that. Weiss is a good person, a girl with a strong attitude but beautiful. Why wouldn't she swear her life on her?
"Ruby..." Weiss didn't know what to say. Who knew the girl would bring her out to show her a binding spell to make them friends...close...together? But would they be still friends after several times that they've gone past that boundary?
"We're more than friends. This oath is not a commitment you keep. It's the other way around. So don't worry, okay?" Ruby smiled up at her, taking slow steps forward until she was half a feet away from the heiress. Her hand cupped the blue-eyed girl's cheek, her skin cold to the touch. "Besides, what would I do without you?"
"Many things...just not with me?" Weiss replied as she pressed her cheek on the soft hand of Ruby Rose.
"But that would be sad." You always manage to make me happy. Why is that?
As if it was clockwork, Weiss smiled and answered. "I would be too."
The cold of the night kept them company, the moon soon peeking from the clouds to watch them both. Weiss and Ruby came to a silent agreement to the oath, a little something to keep them together.
Both were clueless where their relationship would end up at this point. They were friends, allies, and a pair of girls that were unstoppable in fights but they were more than that. Darker at times, deeper than they could understand, a relationship harder to define.
Yet this brought them nothing bad. Mere challenges and unknown hardships they have yet to face. Weiss and Ruby left the unsaid things be as they look through long soft lashes as their hands intertwine.
The heiress left to fate to take the course of their relationship as the witch started chanting. Hours and days, they have spent time knowing and learning about each other. They were in the grey area of love and friendship. They hope this will be enough for them to fight what battles are to come.
As Ruby said words in a language foreign to Weiss, she tried to decipher what they were but it was no point. Too many languages mixed in, too much power in the air, too many things to process.
"I bind my fate with Weiss Schnee, the key to my life. I stay with you as I am wanted and needed. May we stay close, may we stay dear and true." Ruby declared. Upon hearing it, made Weiss smile. An oath and a binding spell in one. It was to last for a long time and she doesn't mind.
A different gust of wind blew to their direction, warm and gentle like a fleece to keep the winter cold out. Weiss looked up at Ruby in excitement and thrill with a smile on her lips as she felt the energy shift.
Ruby finally stopped chanting and looked around with a wide and bright smile. As if she saw a crowd that Weiss didn't and was assuring them that the ritual has finished.
"One last thing..."Ruby added as she cupped Weiss's cheek. The heiress knew what she was to do and what she needed. Turning around to give the brunette easy access, she parted her braid away to expose her neck.
Ruby's arms held the girl in it, closer than they have ever been. Weiss' heart felt like it wanted to jump out and run to find the reason why it was losing control but she need not look. She knew exactly who was making her feel so.
"Thank you." The vampire sunk her sharp fangs onto the pale neck of Weiss. She cried out in both pain and delight, a familiar feeling that only Ruby can give her.
Weiss held on to Ruby's arms that wrapped around her waist, making the pain a little bearable. Moans escaped her lips that sounded like a song's melody that echoed through the trees. She tried holding it in but she found it difficult to do so like any other day.
Ruby felt the sweet blood fill her mouth. An overwhelming flavor that she knows and loves. Making her feel the strength and power that filled her system yet, she felt a little guilt from feeding. Weiss always felt good from it and so does she...but she wants to give the girl something more.
"Ruby..." Weiss' soft voice reminded Ruby to pull away with care, licking the wound to close.
Weiss shivered as the feeding came to a stop, leaving her a little weak but still able. Ruby held her up still, hugging her from behind.
"Something tells me that we both want something more than that," Weiss whispered, her cold hand cupping Ruby's cheek.
"But Weiss...are you sure?" The vampire asked. She knows what she means, wants, and felt the need to have but she was worried. What if...
"I am. Stop worrying. You and I are old enough and I have wanted it since we started the feedings. I consent to it. Can we?" Weiss asked, pressing her body closer on to Ruby.
Well, doubts can come later.
"Gladly."
