-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-Adam stepped into the palace quietly, chin up. His brown hair was brushed through, his soft gold eyes bright as he escorted his sister Flair into the massive palace of Orynth. Her light brown locks were curled and pinned out of her face, her soft brown eyes darker than his own. Their mother and father lead them in, Flair giggling a little as Prince Flame waved to her.
Aelin and Rowan stood at the throne with all three of the princes, but there was no sign of Oaklynn as Aelin rushed forward to hug Adam's father.
His mother smiled at the two, hugging Aelin as well before asking lightly. "Aelin, where's Oaklynn?" Flame answered first, his eyes darkening
"She wasn't in her room this morning. The palace grounds are being searched as we speak."
His father nodded, a hand on the sword he always wore at his hip. "I'll assist. I can-" His words cut out as the doors flew open, Adam stepping in front of Flair. He knew she could defend herself, but he would always step up to protect his sister.
Aedion ran in, eyes wide as he bared his teeth. "The guards from Oak's room said they imprisoned an imposter last night. They said she was adament that she was Oak, and that she won't shift out of her form." He snarled, Rowan stepping forward. "Let's go." They all sprinted towards the stairs, Rowan and Aedion leading the group quickly.
Three guards stayed in front of the doors to the cells, one of the young men stepping forward. "Your highnesses...?" Aelin growled as she stepped to the front of the group, her eyes angry.
"Why in the hell didn't you just bring her to us?" She growled, sending a shiver up Adam's spine. The queen had honestly always scared him, more so than her husband and consort. The guard winced a bit, quiet as he hung his head.
"I apoligize, your highness...she was kicking and screaming, and Nox said-" Aelin raised a hand, cutting him off. "Nox left for Adarlan two days ago to offer aid in training guards for the city. He hasn't been here." The guard blanched, all of their eyes widening. "I'm so sorry, I didn-" She shook her head again. "I know. We'll figure it out, but for now, let us in."
He quickly opened the door to the cells, a young woman laying in the one closest to the group. Adam's mother gasped sharply at the pool of blood that was staining the girls' almost white hair, her eyes shut and skin pale.
There on the ground, in a puddle of her own blood, lay Oaklynn. Aelin and Rowan broke the door open, Adam's hands warming with his gifts. His mother got there first, her hands glowing as she laid them of the younger girl's skin.
The blood down her face cracked at the movement, Yrene gently healing the wound with a soft gasp. "She'll need rest in the medbay, to keep an eye on her. I sense no mental deficits, so she should be alright." Aedion gently scooped the girl up, disappearing up the stairs with her. Adam's heart pounded wildly, Aelin rubbing her face.
"We need to figure out who "Nox" was, and if he's still in the castle."
The four adults shared a knowing look, Adam glancing to his sister as they walked up the stairs.
"Well...? What do you think it is?" She asked softly, her brown eyes worried. Adam shook his head, his hand falling to the pommel of his leather bound sword.
"I have no idea."-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_
