A/N: Starting off, this part is about 160 words. I kind of have to completely change this, because I changed the ending of the last chapter. So, here we go. (July 22, 2024)

Aelin walked quietly into the medbay, smiling as she spotted her daughter. The young woman was curled into a chair beneath one of the large windows, her eyes on the stars high above.
Aelin walked over, quiet. "I used to look at the stars, too. When I was on a mission, I would look at the stars and wish."
Oak looked up, her eyes soft. "...wish for what?" Her mother grinned, eyes bright. "A better world."
They both sat there for a little, before Oak crawled into her mother's lap. "I'm scared..." She whispered softly, closing her eyes. Aelin wrapped her around Oak, smiling gently. "I know, kiddo. I was scared with Flame, you know that? Your mother, who's never scared of anything, was scared of having your big brother."
She whispered, rocking Oak a bit. "I didn't have my mother and father when I was growing up. I didn't know what being a parent looked like. So when I found out I was having him, I was scared. But your father rose up, and he calmed me. He held my hand, and he reminded me that I am a badass." Oak giggled a bit, Aelin brushing through her daughters' hair with her fingers.
"And then when I had you, my little tree sap, I wasn't scared. I was thrilled. I had one kid under my belt, and I was so excited to meet you. So, please trust me when I say that you will be wonderful, Oak."
She nodded a bit, gently pulling away from her mother. "...is dad mad...?" Aelin rubbed her cheek, smiling a little.
"I think he's just shocked. He isn't mad at you, though, and neither am I."
Oak nodded a little bit. "...and Chaol and Yrene?" Aelin sighed softly. "They're okay too, Oak. Yrene is very excited to be a grandmother, and she can't wait to talk to you herself. Chaol is...a little less thrilled, but he's coming around."
Oak nodded weakly, her hand over her stomach. "...and are you mad?" She asked softly, Aelin sighing. "Oaklynn. I am...I am proud of you. I am proud of you for stepping up, and I am proud of you for fighting to be with the persom you love. However, I wish you had just been honest with me. Okay?"
Oak nodded again, hugging her mother tightly.
"Thanks, mom.." She whispered. Aelin nodded, squeezing her back. "Head back to sleep, you. You'll need it."-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_
