She pulled Makayla into an unwanted hug, but a much needed one at that "What are you doing?" She asks pulling away from the embrace.

"I'm sorry I treated you like this, ever since my dad died, I don't know I guess I started to be jealous of you, I mean you have the perfect family, perfect life, perfect body. I used to wish that I could have something like that but I was wrong. I shouldn't have ever treated you like that you're family." She blurts out. Makayla looks taken aback at her cousins confession, she couldn't believe her ears. There was a pause as she gathered her thought and formulated a reply

"It's okay Olivia, I'm not perfect...nobody's perfect" she said

She nods and they hug again. Never in a million years did Makayla think that she and Olivia would be on good terms, she had her suspicions but she never had a valid point to prove that Olivia was jealous. She acts so confident and bold every time they meet. This felt really strange, even though they were family she never thought this day would ever come.

"So why were you going to let me borrow Chris? Aren't you guys like a couple?" She asks

"No, we actually aren't and we never were" she mumbles, suddenly she remembered what had just happened between both of them. She saw Olivia's eyes looking confused as if she was trying to figure out what was going on between them. "It's complicated"
"Are you sure? Because...when we were in the gym and I asked him about his love life he said that there was somebody he really cared about, I think that somebody is you"

Makayla listened as the girl spoke, "He spoke about her like she was the only girl he knew"

"We literally met two weeks ago, I'm sure he wasn't talking about me" she said laughing at the strange fact, Olivia rolled her eyes

"Just stating the facts" Makayla said. That was when Chris walked inside the house, his brown eyes found their way to hers immediately. He shuts the door behind him and Olivia stands up and leaves before the girl can ask her to stay. He sits next to her "Look I'm—"

"You're sorry, don't be. You were being honest, never apologize for that"

"I wasn't being honest, I was angry and hurt and I guess I said some things that I didn't mean" he said.

"Why were you hurt?" She asks

He opens his mouth to explain but her phone rings, she checks the caller ID and it says—you guessed it:

Timothy

She failed in trying to hide the phone and knew Chris already saw it. She looks at him, then at the ringing phone, he waited to see what she would do, she doesn't think twice before hanging up the call. She saw the tension diminish in his eyes as the call turned red then disappears and her lock screen comes up.

That was when the front door was opened by my mother who looked at us suggestively "Guys, it's time to open the gifts!"

They stood up moments after and went onto the front yard where everyone was opening their gifts. She couldn't wait for Chris to open his gift, he would be so happy. She wondered if he had gotten her anything. They took up the huge bag and began distributing the gifts to their friends. Just then Mr. Lewis and his girlfriend arrives and they give him his gift, he greets Makayla's parents introducing them all to his girlfriend, Katrina.

At the mention of the word girlfriend, I saw Chris' shoulders tense and if you looked closely enough you could see the anger behind his seemingly expressionless face. He certainly wasn't the best at hiding his emotions

She walked up to him and gave Chris his gift "You got me a gift?" His eyes brightened, just like a child's would.

"Yup" She said, hoping he had gotten her one too. He slowly unwrapped the gift, pulling out the golden pair of Jordans. His jaw hung open.

"No...freaking...way" he said slowly "You didn't..." he muttered before pulling her into a tight hug.

"Kayla where the hell did you get the money for this?" He asked admiring the shoes. She waved a credit card around answering his question.

"Xavier look!" he said running over to Xavier with the shoes in his hands.

"Damn bro who bought you those?!" Xavier exclaimed, his face looking just as surprised as Chris'.

"Kayla!" He answered gesturing to the girl who smiled at their reaction.

"Do you know how expensive those are?" He asks taking a shoe in his hand, holding it as if it were some sort of diamond or jewel.

She smiles before continuing handing out gifts from their bag until it's empty. Liam walked up to her "Here's yours" he said handing her a small silver box. "Aww you didn't have to" She says looking at him, thankfully.

"I wanted to" he assured her,

It was a cute necklace with half of a heart it had the word "best" engraved in it. "Who has the other half?" She asked.

"Layla" he grinned "Thank you so much" She said.

He smiled an award winning grin "Let me help you put it on" he said. She raised her hair revealing her neck, he clipped it on "There" She thanked him again before running over to Layla, showing her the necklace "Besties!" They squeal hugging each other, both laughing loudly.

She felt a hand touching her shoulder, she turned around to see Chris standing before her, he smiled softly when she met his gaze.

"I bought something for you" he says handing her a large box, it was about half her height, she shook it trying to figure out what was in it.

"Woah don't do that" he said turning the box upright again. She laughed, slightly afraid of what would be inside this box.

"Well...open it" he said.

She begins to unwrap the box and open the box, her breath falters when she sees a pair of earrings—the same ones from the store. "I can't believe it" she said still staring at the earrings that were made of real diamond. She hugged him tightly and he hugged her back. Just then, all the attention is taken away from them and everyone is circling two people. They rush over to see what the commotion is about.

They make their way to the front of the circle and see Mr. Lewis on one knee, proposing to Katrina. Her breath falters at the beautiful sight, she is in just as much shock as Katrina. The crowd is going wild, applauding and cheering, many older women scream to her to say yes.

Katrina is in tears and she nods.

"Of course I'll marry you" she sobs into her new fiancé's shirt. The crowd is still cheering and she sees Mr. Lewis look around for someone. She peers around as well scanning the crowd for him. He was right here just a couple seconds ago, where could he have gone?

Where did Chris go?
