Snap!
"Mei you're fabulous! Keep doing what you're doing," The photographer shouted as he continued to snap pictures of Mei. "Someone get a fan!" He called out to one of the employees who was standing there.
Mei stood in front of the fan and felt her hair start to move in around. She pushed a few strands from her face. Her tall frame and slender body were like of a Victoria secret model. Her hazel brown eyes eyes, like the sea, were calm and emotionless. Long, wavy brown hair, so smooth and silky, almost as if it was tailored from gold fabric. She stood on the platform and posed. Some were innocent, while others were more sensual and sweet - showing off some more skin.
Snap! Snap! Snap! Snap! Snap! The photographer looked at the computer where the pictures were processed. He gasped, his lips shaped into a perfect 'O'. He continued to go through the pictures, one by one. His lips started to stretch wider into a grin. "These are magnificent Mei! You're amazing!" He finally said. All the other workers started to clap, soon there was a roar of applause for Mei.
Mei's cheeks dusted pink as she stepped down from the platform. "Thank you but there's no need for the applause," She said.
The photographer gave her a pat on the back. "You're amazing Mei. Your mother is so proud of you," he said, "You're done for today. You can get going."
Mei went back to her dressing room and locked the door behind her. The creamy sheets of the silky red dress slipped off her shoulders and fell to the ground. She slipped on a pair of jeans and sweater. She wrapped a black wool scarf around her neck and put on her winter jacket.
Mei sat on the chair in her dressing room and checked her phone. "I haven't posted in awhile. Might as well post something now," She took a quick selfie and posted it online. Within a few of seconds she had hundreds of likes and comments.
Mei grabbed her school bag and headed outside. It was around 5:30pm. She still had to practice violin and do her school homework. Mei sighed to herself. This sucks.
It's dark now and the snow is still falling, clumps of wet flakes drifting windlessly down, the air moist, the sidewalk mushy underfoot. She could hear the crunching sound of snow beneath her whenever she took a step.
Mei felt her stomach make a soft noise. I should find something to eat. I'm hungry. Food first. Homework later. She thought to herself. She walked to a little bakery that was perched on the corner of the street. The snow hugged the building like a day old baby, new and clingy.
The door chimed when Mei entered the door. A wave of nostalgia hit the brown-haired female when she entered the little bakery. The smell of sweets and the different pastries lingered in the air, which made her stomach grumble even more.
"You seem hungry. Is there anything you'd like me to get you?" The man asked.
Mei tapped on her chin and scanned at the menu above her. "Is there anything you recommend? I'm not sure actually," She asked.
"Try the milk bread. It's delicious," The man said. He filled a bag full of 2-3 pieces of bread. Mei took it from him and went to grab her wallet. He gasped.
"Are you Mei Fukuhara?" The man asked with excitement filling his eyes. Mei nodded slowly.
"Can I have your autograph please? I'm a huge fan of your work," He gushed handing her a pen and a magazine. It was last month's issue and she made the front cover. Mei felt her cheeks heat up for the second time today. She signed it and gave him back the pen.
