SMACK.

The slap was as loud as a clap and stung Mei's face. It had been an open-handed smack and it had left a red welt behind. She staggered backwards, clutching her face, eyes watering.

What did I do now?

"You insolent brat! Do you realize how much you worried me today? You didn't answer any of my phone calls and you had the nerve to almost decline your manager's offer," Her mother snapped.

"I'm sorry mother. I was just busy today. I was walking home with Iwaizumi-senpai," Mei cried out.

"Oh him? Isn't he one of those boys who spends all his time playing sports?" Miss Fukuhara scoffed.

"Iwaizumi-senpai is actually really good in volleyball. He helped take his team as co-captain to nationals last year!" Mei shot back.

"You think smacking a ball is going to get him anywhere in life. I don't want my daughter associating with the likes of him. I want you to follow in my footsteps and take control of this company, so no more fooling around," Miss Fukuhara snapped.

Miss Fukuhara grabbed Mei's face and pulled Mei towards her. She examined the red handprint that was left on her face. "I'm sorry about that dear. It must sting," she turned to the butler Tatsuya, "Go grab some ice for Mei here and take her to her room." She ordered.

"As you wish Fukuhara-sama. Mei follow me. I have a fresh pair of clothing and a bath running for you," The butler said.

Mei absentmindedly followed Tatsuya to her room. She wasn't paying attention to her surroundings. She was so lost in thought. Does she really feel that way about Iwaizumi-senpai! I thought she liked him before. What happened? Mei almost tripped on a plant but he caught her just in time. "Be careful miss," He warned.

"Thank you Tatsuya-chan. I can take it from here. I appreciate all your help," Mei said. She gave him a smile and a bow.

A smile crept onto Tatsuya's face. "Your mother will get angry again if she catches you calling me that," He said.

Mei shrugged. "Oh well. It's weird using 'san' with you anyway. I've known you since I was a little kid. You're my friend anyway, so who cares what she thinks," She added.

"Your mother might be hard with you sometimes, but that's because you're her daughter. You're in the eye of the cameras. You're lucky you weren't caught because rumours would've spread like wildfire," Tatsuya said in his matter-of-fact tone.

Mei held her cheek. "I guess, but she didn't have to slap the living daylights out of me. It..it really hurt. Iwaizumi is also my friend. She didn't have to insult him too," Mei's voice cracked.

Tatsuya ruffled with Mei's hair and gave her a smile. "There's no need to cry. Smile. You look much more beautiful with a smile on your face," He said.

Deep down Tatsuya knew his words wouldn't work, she was just a little girl, but she had so many expectations since birth. It's too overwhelming for anyone.

"Yeah I will. I'll go take a shower now," Mei said. She gave him a weak smile and walked away.

A tear trickled down her cheek.
