Fireflies {Part 1}

Broken noises flooding out a scrambled house
Jumbled music, vibrations so loud they rattled my bones, my breath comes short
Laughter, shouting, and shrieks echo out
Hordes moving together in sync
Standing in corners, filled cups, alone in waves
A back porch, green grass, a warm night
Bare feet watching floating stars
Flashing, moving together as one
Floating slowly towards me
A child at home, swirling and reaching out desperately to catch fireflies within your battered hands
A girl
Emerged from the glow of the suffocating mass of voices
Eyes dark, breath shaking, escaping a whirlwind I never belonged to
She sits, falling to the ground next to me
My breath stutters as she leans on me like we had never been apart
Standing on trembling limbs
Smiles blurring, dresses twirling, bursts of laughter
Fireflies blinking, eyes locking
