Jamie -
I struggled to get out of the apartment and to work in time but I managed to get there just a minute before I was supposed to. In case I forgot to mention, I work at a music store instead of a Starbucks. Andrea was sitting on the counter, tuning a new electric guitar.
"Good morning!" she chirps with a smile
"Someone's in a good mood" I raise an eyebrow at her, she grins and nods her head before sliding off the counter.
"Well this someone, has got a date tonight!" she giggles and puts away the guitar.
"That someone has to tell me everything!" I poke her in the arm before clocking in.
"His name is Hayes and he's one year older than us, he's in Uni right now and he's gorgeous!" she informs me before cracking another smile.
Andrea rarely goes on dates, she gets asked out all the time but the guy is never worth her time and effort. She's plenty pretty but she just prefers to stay at home and watch Netflix all day with me, that's why we get along so well. She's been talking about Hayes ever since they began hanging out (which was like three months ago) and her phone will always go off in the middle of a movie marathon but she seems really happy when she's around him, so he must be doing something right.
"I'm happy for you, tell me everything as soon as you get home." I give her a hug before beginning my long shift of work.
Not many customers come in but that's normal for a Friday, most people go out clubbing instead. I stock the piano books and tape drums together, when Andrea snaps me out of my thoughts. "So, are you thinking about doing online Uni? I mean, you are going to do something other than music right?"
I look over at her with a smile before nodding. "I've already signed up for a program. I think I'll go to university for songwriting, I've written a couple of songs but I want to become better." I tell her
"I still can't believe you turned down a full scholarship to Berklee, that school is nearly impossible to get into." she shakes her head at me, I shrug and continue to stock more music books.
"Being out of London doesn't seem as bad anymore but I don't think I could stay out of the U.K. that long."
"Yet, you're willing to go to Cali for the entire summer?" she rolls her eyes
"That's not as bad as four years in a country I barely know anything about."
"Has Niall texted you or DMed you yet?" she changes the subject.
I sigh and shake my head "Nope" Niall is a touchy subject to me but yet everyone remembers me and just asks about him, what he's like, how he kisses, his hugs. I don't like talking about him because I miss him and I don't think he's made an effort to even text or call or anything, I try but the messages never go through or his voicemail is full.
"Have you tried calling or texting him lately?" she wonders, making me feel sadder than before. I sigh and shake my head once again.
"I've given up, I just need a break from dating and relationships. I'm not ready for another one anytime soon." I inform her
"I'm going to set you up for a date! We can have a double date!" she giggles, I roll my eyes and shake my head.
"All I really want is a guy best friend, someone to comfort me and everything but that isn't my boyfriend." I tell her, she nods and goes back to sweeping the floors as I finish the stock. Soon, our shift finishes and we head over to Nando's for a bite to eat before we go our seperate ways.
We talk about our plans about the summer, her Hayes and everything other than Niall. It feels good to be able to talk about other things and important things to Andrea besides me. She likes to talk about New York a lot, she really misses it but likes London much better.
I head back to the apartment and get in my cozy clothes before watching Netflix. Monzy was at work, so I had the place to myself. I spend most of my days when I'm not at work, watching Netflix and getting fat. I don't have much of a social life out of my little group of friends, Directioners will still come up to me and ask for pictures or they'll just insult me for breaking their baby's heart before walking away.
Monzy and Andrea are pretty much all I have, Cami doesn't call or text anymore and Nate's always busy training or playing to remember me. I haven't heard from Grace in months, the two broke up but are still pretty close friends and I haven't heard from either one of them since they both left. Grace is in Uni still, working on getting her degree for teaching.
Andrea never went to college, she does online school and works at the music store with me. She lives alone in an apartment, she pays for everything on her own because her parents hate her for leaving New York for London.
Monzy goes to school from seven in the morning to two in the afternoon. She's always wanted to become a writer and she's a pretty damn good one too. After Uni, she works at the local library until four or five. She's a pretty busy girl with a pretty big dream.
I book a flight for Cali after I finish an episode of Awkward before deciding to pack my bags already. The flight leaves in two days, I'll be on my way to my very first trip outside of England. I should probably call Ally and tell her about Cali before anyone else, I haven't seen her in so long.
She's now 18 with the same boyfriend as before, she also moved out of our parents house and moved in with her best friend. She's going to be a senior in high school next fall and I haven't seen her since she was 16. My mom didn't want me to come back to the house after I disobeyed her and didn't go to America, she hardly even let out Ally until she knew I wouldn't be back anytime soon.
My parents got a divorce and my dad found a woman, her name's Laura and she's way cooler than my mom. They're engaged right now and their wedding is sometime in August, I'm happy for him because I haven't seen him that happy in so long.
My mom on the other hand, not so lucky. I heard from Ally that mom's been trying to do online dating but has only found total creeps, serves her right too.
I grab my phone and dial up Ally's number, she answers on the second ring. "Helloo?" she sings into the phone
"Heyy" she shrieks and laughs at the sound of my voice
"Jamie! I miss you! Why haven't you been calling?" she begins to ask me questions
"I miss you too, I've been busy and I'm calling to tell you some very important news." I try and answer all her questions.
"What? You and Niall are dating in private!?" she guesses, I laugh and roll my eyes.
"Nah, that would be too hard for him. I'm going to California for the summer!" I exclaim
She gasps and freaks out "You're so lucky! Can I come with you?"
"Do you really want to leave Steven for the entire summer? I just finished booking my flight, I'm getting ready to pack my bags." I inform her
She laughs "True, I couldn't leave my bae for the entire summer. He could find someone better than me. I'll miss you but send me loads of pictures okay? I'm in the middle of something so I have to go in a second." she says in a rush, I hear Steven's voice in the background
"Are you two about to have sex?" I question with a slight smirk, knowing she's about to crack.
"Wwhhaatttt? W-what are you talking about?" she squeaks out as I hear noises on the other side of the line.
"Just as long as you use protection! Bye beautiful!" I laugh
"Bye J-Jamie." she says while trying to hide a moan, I laugh again and hang up before finishing my packing.
California!
