I watched a red liquid poll out of the gash under his chest. He coughed, a crimson shade tainted his teeth. I wrapped my arms around his head, lifting it in hopes to ease the pain.
" Chelsea ... " He leaned in, his blood-stained fingers grazed my cheek.
" Please, just don't talk. just don't say anything. " I felt a tear slip out, partially in happiness to see he was alive and the rest .... in fear of losing him once again
Blood oozed out as he sat up slightly, he grunted before meeting my eyes. Smiling, he gently pushed back the hair that fell forward, partially blocking the gruesome scene in front of me. His left hand pressed down on the wound. His eyes drank the frantic expression etched across my face. With soft rhythmic breaths, he purred the side of my face with the back of his palm. Tilting his head sideways, his dirty blond hair stained with sweat turning them brown, he let out a shudder lowering himself in such a way his head rested on my lap. The marble floor felt like ice to my skin, sending chills up to my bones. I looked up, my sight only to be met with the darkness of the never-ending corridor. The only light being the wild streaks of raw moonlight that poured onto us from the broken stained glass window above.
" Never Follow IT ." He breathed. I scrunched my eyebrows in confusion. I leaned forward to hear him better but his face seemed oddly calm, as if almost at peace. His eyes held a dreamy look as he continued to look at me. He softly repeated the words over and over.
" CHELSEA! " A harsh whisper echoed in the empty hall.
I whipped my head around. Scanning the dimly lit area with squinted eyes. I felt a pulsing grow at the back of my head as my eyes wide open, something was coming. I tightened my grip around him, a quick movement shifted in front of me as I felt my legs suddenly feel lighter. I looked down to see him missing, and all I held in my fisted hands were ripped pieces of his shirt. I was alone sitting in a pool of blood.
Turning to find him. I screamed as a dark silhouette lunged at me, a huge force pulled me sideways by my hair, I cried out in pain and fear. Squeezing my eyes shut as I hid my face with my hands. My back came in contact with the concrete wall and the wind pushed out of my lungs.
Icy breath fanned my face and a huge shadow leaned over me, a metallic smell filled my nostrils, I felt as if I could almost taste it.
" Come and Find US ."
I dropped the ground like dead weight. My eyes squeezed shut. I dared not to open them.
"Who's there ?" I called out, just to find my voice answer me. I felt the hair on the back of my neck stand in urgency as an odd electric feeling surged through my body. Clenching my damp skirt I looked up with all the power mustered in me to be met with nothing. With a quick movement, I swept myself off the floor and began hurrying down the hall. My footsteps following me.A dare. A stupid worthless dare. Left me trapped. Dead to all outsiders. Any cries for help ignored. I lost myself to an ugly monster, a Demon.
I looked back, stopping momentarily but the echoes of footsteps continued.
I felt my eyes burn. A huge pressure built behind them as my heart hammered against my ribs. My lungs burned as I felt the air being pressed out of them.
" No, no, no, no ... " I cried.
My heart raced as I saw a sight I didn't see before. A door. An exit.
Freedom.
I stumbled forward, a feeling of hope swelled within me.
The footsteps became louder and morphed into a mix of running on all fours, like a stamped.
I felt the corners of my eyes burn as tears dared to push out.I'm going to make it, I'm going to be free.
I told myself, time and time again.
My legs were aching but the adrenaline pumped through me.I wasn't alone. I could feel the cold stares on my back, burning holes through me.
This place.
This ... house
Was where I lost everything.
Where I saw my world crumble before of me.
I pushed myself forward breathing heavily as my lungs burned.Relief took over as I shot forward with the last bit of energy inside me, the door grew closer and closer.
It was inches away. I felt the hard exterior scratch the tips of my fingers.
My legs were yanked back.
I flew far from it, Colliding with the vintage dining table across the hall. The sound of glass shattering rang through the empty air. Followed by my cries of pain as the pieces of it pierced through me."You have disturbed us ." A compiled scream caused me to cover my ears with my blood-smeared hands.
"You have Disturbed our PEACE !" The voices yelled once again.
"PLEASE! I AM SORRY ?! " I screamed back. Squeezing my eyes shut as raspy breathing came closer to me with urgent footsteps.
But then.
It was silent.
Dead Silent. It crawled under my skin and I relaxed, for the first time in ages, I relaxed. My muscles sour and cramped and my throat felt as if it was scratched from the inside.
"Please ... " I pushed out the words. "Please... " A tear rolled down my face. Its warmth challenging my cold skin. It felt unfamiliar.Slowly. I opened my eyes to be met with red ones.
It's smile, rows of razors linked with the jawless face
Everything about it...
" Should Have Left. " It chuckled as I pulled away. The shards buried deeper. As I yelped out of pain and fear as the beast climbed on top of me. Its inhuman arms and legs extended to the wall as it opens its mouth.
" HELP ME PLEASE! "
A loud cracking sound and the room suddenly being lit with a sunny orange glow was the last I saw before my world turned dark.Authors note :
