"Hey, can I have a quick shower here? I'm too lazy to go back home"

"Sure, no problem. I'll lay out a dress for you too" I lift an eyebrow.

"What?! I'm in the mood to dress up after you gave the news for the weekend"

I smirk and shake my head.

We're both done with the cooking and then setting of the table by 8.45. I then rush up to the guest bathroom and have a quick shower and then dress myself in the simple yellow sundress Ashley's laid out for me. I head over to her room and call out to her- singing loudly in the bathroom.

"I'm using your makeup, alright?"

"Be my guest"

"Come out soon, Ash. Its 9"

I just put on some moisturizer on my face- albeit a brightening one and use a tint on my lips and cheeks. Ashley comes out of the bathroom and walks into the closet.

I leave my hair open which I notice to my dismay is starting to frizz a bit now. Never mind, it's just Matt.

Ashley comes over and helps herself to the makeup as well.

"Wow, you look good"

"Don't I now?" she smirks at her reflection. I roll my eyes and laugh.

The bell rings and we know its Matt. His sister looks at me pleadingly and I hold up my hands. "Fine, I'll open it. Be quick"

I run down the stairs and in a flash to the hallway. When I open the door, Matt walks in automatically busy typing something in his phone. Hardly acknowledging me. I smile and close the door- this guy just works too hard.

"Hi, big brother"

He puts his phone away as he looks up to Ashley hopping down the stairs. And possible puzzled, looks around, and spots me. I just put on my best bitch face and walk around him, not acknowledging him.

Ashley probably sees where I'm going with this and tries to stifle her laughter. I walk over to the kitchen counter to see to the food. Matt is following me, trying to put a word in, I'm sure.

I hardly acknowledge him. "Come on, Jen don't be like this" he pleads. Still I say nothing. I carry the cutlery over to the table and notice no Ashley hovering around. Coward, I smirk to myself.

"Jen, darling please"

"Don't darling me!" I look every bit the hurt girlfriend, I'm sure.

"Jen, I'm sorry, I didn't know you'd be in tonight. I didn't see it was you at all"

"You didn't see me?!" I am such a good actor, I swear. "And here I make chicken for you!"

"You made me food?"

"Of course!"

"Heck! I'm sorry Jen. Come on now. I'm sorry. It won't happen again, I promise"

I, every bit the unbelieving character, look at him with the appropriate expression.

"Really?" He nods; the poor guy! "Because I don't believe you"

"It's true Jen. Here now listen, tell me what to do to make you believe? I'll do anything" he looks tensed. From somewhere I hear a clattering sound. I bet its Ash probably dropping something because she's having a laughter attack.

"Well, there is something"

"Anything!"

"I'm hosting a dinner this weekend. I need a male co-host"

For a second he looks like a fish out of water. A tall fish-out-of-water. He's shocked, clearly.

"Fine!" he sighs. You see, the thing with Matt is that he isn't like Ashley or me in the parties department. It doesn't matter if it's a normal house party or some red-carpet glitz. He just hates them.

"We're cool then!" I chirp. His mouth is hanging out.

"Did you... did you just"

"Fool you? Yeah, totally" Ashley comes into the room, wheezing. We share quite a laugh over that one. Needless to say, Matt is quite angry the whole time for dinner. A part of me feels guilty- I knew he vehemently hated parties and such get-togethers and even after knowing that, I fooled him. And Matt is a person whose word is the bond. He's a gentleman like that.
