I pump my legs to go harder and keep a death grip on the evidence that will surely give away my identity. This is only the second time this has happened.

You would think I wouldn't get in trouble for doing good in the world. Yet, this is illegal and not every person likes hearing or seeing anything related to Jesus.

I see a fence up ahead and I mutter to myself. I don't practice jumping fences on a daily basis. God, please let me be slightly more fit than the police officer chasing me. They like donuts, right? Well, so do I... that's not gonna help me in this situation.

"STOP IN THE NAME OF THE LAW!" The officer shouts at me.

3....2....1.... JUMP..... or face plant. The breath is knocked right out of me. I gasp for air and scramble to get back up on my feet. I quickly grab the spray paint can and take off running again. The police officer bangs on the fence and let's a curse word escape his mouth.

"LANGUAGE!" I shout over my shoulder and keep running. I take the longest possible way to my house just in case any one else is following me. I don't want my grandma finding out about this. She doesn't need to be worrying about me.

I quietly slip open my window and crawl through it landing softly into my room. Thank You Lord for letting me have carpet instead of wood flooring. I toss the spray paint in the back of my closet and take off my shirt. I drop my shirt on the floor and I wander through the house looking for my grandma.

I see her sleeping soundly in her rocking chair and I cover her with a blanket. I kiss her forehead softly and go to the bathroom. I take a quick shower and brush my teeth. Afterwards, I go into my room and collapse on my bed. I lazily get under the covers and grab my bible.

I do my daily devotion. Then return my bible to it's normal spot and turn my lamp off. Within a few minutes I'm fast asleep.

I step inside the place most kids dread: school. My eyes land on my girlfriend with another guy's arm around her.

The rumors are true.

I take a deep breath and push my frustration down. I concentrate on keeping my face neutral as I walk towards my girlfriend and whoever that guy is.

"Hey! I've been looking every where for you!" My girlfriend's shrill voice says.

I bite my tongue from saying or doing something bad and or wrong.

"Can we talk alone?" She questions.

I nod my head and follow her to an empty stairway.

"I've been talking to-."

"Don't tell me his name." I interrupt her and lean against the wall with my hands in my pockets.

She seems shocked, but continues. "I haven't cheated on you," she sighs.

"You weren't faithful to me."

Her eyes flash with hurt for a second and then it's gone. "I don't want you any more. It won't take long for me to move on from you. I can get any guy I want."

God, give me the words. "I hope God blesses you so much that you have no choice, but to believe in Him and that He has been the one to be there for you more than any guy on earth could possibly be." I push myself off the wall and continue upstairs to my first class for the day.

"How was your day, sweetie?"  My grandma asks me when I walk in her house.

I shake my head. "Not that great, Gram."

She wraps her arms around me. "What happened dearie?"

"She broke up with me."

She rubs my back and kisses my head. "It will be okay. God's got you, Ezra."

I nod my head as a few tears escape my eyes. I try to act all tough on the outside, but I'm really soft on the inside. Gran knows that. I love her so much and I don't know what I would do without her.
