The smell of sizzling bacon fills my nose. I kick the too warm blanket off of me. I slowly open my eyes and see the sun peaking through the top of the window.
What day is it?
I narrow my eyes at the ceiling as if it will give me the answer.
Is it a school day? Do I need to get up for school?
I get up from the bed and yawn. I scratch my stomach and grab my phone from my dresser.
Tuesday, August 12... Well I'm late for school.
I return my phone to its usual spot and slip on a pair of jeans. I stroll into the kitchen and see my grandmother cooking by the stove top. I kiss the side of her head and gove her a side hug. I grab a piece of bacon and thank God for Gram's amazing, fresh brown sugar coated bacon. I eat the first piece in 2 bites.
"You are welcome to stay home for today because of what happened yesterday, but I except you to be at school on time tomorrow." Gram ordered and I nod my head.
"I will, Gram. Is there anything you need me to do today?"
"Well, I need some things from the store."
"Alright I'll go with you."

When your grandmother says she only needs SOME things from the store, she is lying. She means $100 worth of food and what not.
Turns out Grams only wanted me to stay home long enough to help carry in and put away the groceries. Long story short... she made me go to school. I checked in half way through the school day though, so maybe it won't be too bad.
I stare at the dull wooden door waiting for someone to open it. A bunch of guys laugh at me from inside the room and refuse to open the door. I don't have time to stop my eyes from rolling.
I need to work on that.
A girl who looks extremely bored and irritated opens the door for me. I slip inside and I see the girl take her seat which is right in front of the guys that were laughing at me. I take the only open seat that is right beside the girl.
Out of the corner of my eye I see the guy behind her start playing with her hair. The girl doesn't do anything; she sits in her seat with her arms crossed. The guy whispers something in her ear and pulls her hair. She suddenly turns in her seat and fumed, "stop touching my hair!"
"Hey," I attempt to get her attention. She turns to me and I feel the guy behind her staring at me. "Would you rather seat in this desk?"
She nods and we both get up to trade seats.
Lord, bless this girl and don't let that guy ruin her day. Help me to not snap or hurt any of those guys.
The teacher hurrys in the classroom just as I sit down. "I'm sorry that I'm late class." The guy behind me starts bouncing his leg up and down which cause me to do the same and I clench my jaw. He doesn't stop for the rest of class and I have a hard time concentrating on the teacher. As soon as the bell rings, I get up from my seat and head to my locker.
A hand grabs my wrist and I turn my head to see the girl from my last class. She release my hand and it drops to my side. She clears her thoat. "I wanted to thank you for earlier."
I shake my head and smile for a second. "Don't worry about it. Come find me if they bother you again."
She nods. "Well, see you tomorrow." She turns around, but turns back towards me. "What's your name?"
"Ezra," I state and continue to my locker. I open my locker and grab my black notebook. I see a pink binder in the bottom and I narrow my eyes.
That's not mine. How did that get in here?
I pick it up and open it. I see a sketching and flip through to try and find a name. Rome.
That's a cool name, but why is Rome putting their belongings in my locker?
