Madeline's POV
"Hey, it's me again. We are about to get married in an hour. You are probably getting dolled up right now. The hairdresser is waiting patiently on me. You know all I need is a little of that gel stuff to make my hair spikey. Enough about me. I love you, Madeline. You are such an amazing woman and I don't say it enough. I don't want this to be the only day that I tell you either. I hope that on random days I bring you flowers. When you're down, I bring you homemade soup or really just heated up soup from a can because homemade is a big step up for me. When you are hurting from that time of the month, I'll buy you chocolate and bring home a pet from the shelter to surprise you. I really hope you won't love our pet more than me. I want us to grow old like that one depressing, romantic movie that you made me watch a few weeks ago when you were threatening to end my day in a puddle of blood. I was really scared, honey, but I know that you weren't yourself. I love you, Madeline Rome and I hope you do too because if you don't, up at the alter may be awkward. See you soon, my only love."
A tear slips down my cheek and I hold my phone to my ear. I smile at my husband's words and calmly walk back to my chair. I sit down and text Ezra.
Hey, hubby. I just listened to your voicemail from before our wedding. Today has been rough and I haven't even eaten lunch yet. Don't flip, I'm about to go eat and walk around the garden. I hope your day is going better than mine. Stay safe babe. Love you to Jesus and back.
I shove my phone in my pocket and grab my lunch box from the refrigerator and head out to the hospital garden. After a few minutes of walking around, I begin to relax and look for the goodness of the day.
"Madeline! We need back up. Car accident. Calm down the little girl. She's fine."
Ezra's POV
I run my hands through my wife's hair and kiss the top of her head. "I love you," I gently whisper beside her ear.
She nods and holds my hands. "I love you too," she whispers and kisses my left forearm.
"Let's go somewhere. You have had an awful day and I think it's time we get a pet to take care of."
"Okay."

"Look this one has curly fur!" Madeline exclaims and I nod in agreement. "There's a Dalmatian! That one is all wrinkly!" She glances back at me with a pout. "How do I choose one? We haven't even seen the cats yet!"
I smile and shake my head. "You'll know which one when you see it." An hour later, two Dalmatians occupy the backseat and Madeline is holding a white cat. "We are not keeping them in our house."
"Okay."
The next morning...
"Ezra! The cat is in the kitchen!"
"What? I thought we put it outside."
"It is clearly in the pot on the oven, Ezra."
Meow.
