~Your POV~
You sighed and unlocked the apartment. You were lucky Jenny had given you a spare key to the apartment because she wouldn't be home since she had a late shift at the cafe. Pushing open the door, you found some resistance. Once you stepped inside you found the cause of the resistance and that was the coat rack had fallen behind the door.
Strange, you thought, unsure how it got there as you stood it back up and hung your borrowed coat on it. You checked around just to make sure you were alone when you heard a strange noise coming from the couch. Was that a-
"Meow." You moved towards the couch. I didn't know Jenny had a cat... You felt pretty oblivious if it had been here this who time and you only just noticed.
Sighing, you get on your knees in front of the couch. "Here kitty, kitty." You peeked under the couch seeing two glowing emerald orbs suspiciously eyeing you. Cautiously, you reached underneath the sofa and gently scooped it out. Luckily it was rather friendly and didn't try to claw your arm off.
You sat down on the couch while stroking its soft gray fur, not entirely sure what else there was to do. You turned on the TV for something to do while you were waiting for Jenny to come home.

~3rd person POV~
Jenny hurried up to her apartment, unlocking the door. Closing took longer than expected, primarily because Zoey tried to talk to her about Y/n. She stepped inside and hung up her coat. The blonde saw her friend relaxing on the couch petting the apartment cat.
"Hey Y/n, sorry I'm late. Did anyone happen to come by while I was out?" she asked as she locked the door before joining her friend on the couch.
"No. No one did. Why? Were you expecting someone?" Y/n asked curiously, shifting slightly to look at the blonde.
What? Jenny was fuming. It was a little relieving Zane didn't come while she wasn't here for Y/n but the fact he didn't even show up pissed her off. "You sure?" She struggled to keep her rage from her voice.
Y/n nodded. "Yeah. I guess someone might've come here before I did and left. I only got here around 7." She sat up more. "Who were you expecting?"
Granted, there was a slim chance Zane came before 7 but wouldn't he know better than to come before Jenny's shift was over? Zoey got off at the same time and he likely knew that or at least could've asked. And since Y/n wasn't home it probably wouldn't have taken him long to figure out he was literally talking to a wall.
Jenny sighed. She really thought there was a chance Zane and Y/n could fix their relationship but it was clear Zane wasn't as into her as he claimed since he was a no show. It was already ten o'clock at night. There wasn't much later that he could be without seeming ridiculous.
"Jenny, you okay?" Y/n asked worriedly after a few moments. "You seem on edge."
Jenny tried to laugh a little to release the tension. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just a long day at work. Let's talk about something else."
"Oh, I understand. And well, I didn't know you had a cat."
"I don't. It used to belong to an elderly lady and when she passed several of the residents in the apartment complex decided to take care of it together. I just leave food out and it comes in sometimes." Jenny explained.
"Does it have a name?"
"I think she called him Marvin or something. I honestly don't remember."
"Marvin..." Y/n said. They both sat there for a moment. The only sound was the ferocious purring of Marvin. "Before I forget, I think Marvin knocked over the coat stand while we were out. I don't know if you want to check for hair or claw marks or something."
"Oh no, he does that a lot. It's not a problem."
