Emily was four when her father died in a military test flight.

Overwhelmed with grief, her mother decided to move them away from the busy congested North Carolina city to a smaller town in Tennessee called Springs Peeks.

Spring Peeks didn't have any of the fancy chain stores to shop in, just a few small moms and pop stores to shop at. But this never seemed to bother her or the people living here.

The town had always been a safe, peaceful community to live in. The people here weren't afraid to go to their next-door neighbor's and borrow a cup of sugar if they need to.

After her mother died, Emily decided to stay and take over her mother's cafe' EMM'S and keep it running.

She wasn't about to sell the place her mother had worked so hard to open.

The cafe' wasn't a glamorous job, but it paid the bills. She kept her mind from going mad from the whispers torments and kept her mother's memory alive for her.

Old Man Winter's frosty chill had come settling his icy hands across the quaint sized Tennessee town.

Emily always hated this time of year, when the daylight hours lessened and the nighttime hours never seemed to end.

A blanket of darkness engulfed over the entire town as Emily locked up the cafe' for the night.

She walked home from work every evening only living two blocks away from her cafe'.

As Emily walked along the old chipped uptown sidewalk, she pulled her jacket in closer towards her chest.

The air temperature tonight, felt like she was walking through the middle of the Arctic circle.

She gathered up her jacket against her body, placing her hands down inside her jacket pockets and started to walk home.

The further she walked alongside the cold pavement a tidal wave of fog approached her.

Emily had never seen a wave of fog look this thick in the evenings before.

She started to feel uneasy as the eerie fog crept closer. The unsettling fog looked like something out of a horror movie as it slithered itself around the town.

Emily picked up her pace into a jog but the dense fog swallowed her into its blanket disorienting her as the mist curled around her like a massive Boa-constrictor snake.

Her face becomes damp with condensation. Her skin prickled with an overwhelming sense of terror trickling down her spine.

She felt sickened at her stomach. She felt the hatred, pure evilness projecting outwards from the fog. As though death had surrounded her.

Emily wanted to move and tried moving her feet but they were frozen solid to the cement sidewalk.

Her heartbeat like a jackhammer inside her chest as the fog blanketed her, "Mama," a weak whisper came past her lips as she felt their clammy hands touched her bare neck and face.

Emily closed her eyes as their cold touches moved along her uncovered flesh praying that this was just another one of her bad dreams until she heard the whispering next to her ear, "Emily.....some one's.....behind you."

The blood in her veins went cold," The blood of virgin is sweet....when he comes for you...you'll be his treat.
He'll only take from you, your flesh and bone, then my dear he will lead you home, the master watches over you....whenever you sleep, my sweet Emily..."

She felt the tears building-up inside her eyes, "The master waist for you sweet Emily," The whispers inside the fog taunted her before releasing, dropping her body down to the sidewalk.

The tears came as she screamed out, "Please....leave me alone! What do you want from me?

"You Emily....! Their whisperers thundered back.

Emily screamed, "Just leave me alone!" She curled herself up into a fetal position.

Emily woke-up to a warm sensation touching her cheek. Her eyes felt heavy still fuzzy with sleep.

A figure crouched down next to her, "Miss, are you okay? Do you need me to take you to the Hospital?" A man's masculine voice asked her.

She tried clearing the fuzziness away from her head," Where am I?" Her hand touched her forehead.

"Miss. Your laying on the sidewalk," he raised an eyebrow to her, " are you sure you don't need me to take you to the Hospital Miss?" He asked her again.

" No. I must have tripped. I'm okay. Do you think you could help me up? Her voice came out groggy sounding.

He stood up from the sidewalk and took her hands, then gently pulled her up from the sidewalk holding her body up against his for a moment before he let go and stepped away from her.

"Thank you, for helping me," she paused realizing she didn't know the man standing in front of her.

The man could sense the woman's apprehensioness now, "You're welcome, by the way, I'm Eric Daniels, I just moved to Spring Peeks a few days ago," his hand came out.

"Oh, well that explains why I've never seen you before," her hand came out and shook his, " I'm Emily More. I own the cafe' here in town. "Well, thanks again Eric for helping me. I hope you enjoy living here in Springs Peek. I'm sure we will bump into each other again," she stood there awkwardly for a moment before turning around and hiding her crimson-colored cheeks.

"I'll see you around Emily, something tells me I'm really going to enjoy living here," Eric bowed his head as she turns around and waved goodbye to him.

The nights always felt the same to Emily. The sprites in her room at night never seem to give her a moment of peace.

The sight of their mangled up looking bodies with their decaying flesh pilling away from their bones, standing next to her bedside in the middle of the night was frightening, causing her scream out in pure terror.

And then their whispers would drive her to the brake of insanity, "Emily...please help us.....He's watching you, Emily....!"

She didn't want this awful gift, her mother called it. This was not a gift. , this was a horrible curse and she didn't know how much longer she could hold on to her sanity.
