Time to go

Tutucks never say goodbye.

But Jenny always knew she would have to go.

Even when a Tutuck dies, the idea of being forever apart from someone is too much to bear. They refuse to believe in circumstances where those they know and love will never be seen again.

So they have a saying when someone dies, "Kkp'kk."

The literal translation would be, "forever in the nose," but a better translation might be, "home in my memories," or perhaps, "in the forever hug." It leaves the impression of permanence and interconnectivity with the deceased and the person saying it.

Scent is very important to Tutucks, and so is loyalty. They do not need to adventure or travel for they strongly believe that each and every life on the planet Glorp is so complex and interesting that in any lifetime it is impossible to get to truly know each and every one. They spend vast amounts of time just learning the particularities of their parents, which is why many end up spending their entire lives in the house they were born in.

They were a strange people, though perhaps no more strange than any other lifeform in the universe.

Jenny certainly stood out among them. She was not born in the Tutuck nation so she was not Tutuck. She did not belong to the florub species. She was not even born on the planet Glorp so she was not a Glorpian.

Jenny is the genetic copy of a Time Lord. She was generated to be a soldier on the planet Messaline, which is how she got her name, "Jenny."

Time Lords resemble humans from the planet Earth, and humans resemble Time Lords from the planet Gallifrey. Florubs are generally half the size of Time Lords, and are covered in fur. Their fur can be blue, grey, brown or black. Their eyes are big, and their irises often yellow but can be brown or calico. They have two big spoon-like ears that perk up towards sound, and droop when they are sad. Their noses are flat, and their nostrils wide. They have a very keen sense of smell. So keen they can smell changes in others bodies, this makes it very difficult to conceal things (like fear and lies) from a florub.

For the past five Glorp years (2.666... Earth years) Jenny stayed with a particularly eccentric Florub named Spikk'n. He was not from the Tutuck nation, but a far away country called Sloon.

Spikk'n didn't have a very positive outlook on his country, Jenny gathered that he, as most geniuses, was an outcast. Unlike many Tutuck, and especially unlike many Sloon, he thrived in solitude.

The only person he seemed to genuinely enjoy was Jenny.

He'd been assigned to take care of her, for he was the one who would be able to learn the most about her, and perhaps learn how to communicate with her.

In five years, they were able to communicate basically in each other's languages. Once they got to a certain stage, they found themselves speaking their native languages to each other. Jenny would speak in Messalinian, and Spikk'n would reply in Tutu.

But words did not need to be said for Jenny to know he did not want her to leave.

Though he knew it was coming for a long time, he even helped her rebuild her space pod after it crashed on their planet, knowing the full time she would leave him. He even helped her become a master mechanic, so she could fix the ship herself in future travels.

But though he was kind to her, and provided her with all that she needed, he could never fill the footprints of "Dad."

Jenny did not know much about her father, she only knew him for a day. The day she was born, and the day she died.

But she knew he was good.

And she knew he was a Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey. He spoke Gallifreyan but had a wonderful spaceship called the TARDIS that helped him understand all the languages of the universe, and to travel through infinite space and time.
