At the Park

(Kazumi)

The next morning I followed my usual routine of spending the day in Ji-san's office, only this time I had Mikoto with me. I had decided to name the kitten Mikoto after being rescued by my brave prince. A dreamy sigh escaped my lips as I looked out of the large window to watch the fluffy white clouds lazily roll by.

I wonder if I'll ever see him again.

Easily enough I became oblivious to everything as I daydreamed of my silver haired prince. I was so entranced with my own fantasies that I failed to listen to the important conversation going on right behind me between Minnato and Ji-san.

"Hokage." Minnato spoke softly.

"Hmm?" he questioned his large pip in his mouth as he looked over the many documents on his desk.

"I think you should consider letting Kazumi attend the Academy." Minnato cleared his throat as he slid a scroll into one of the many shelves that lined the wall of his office.

Sarutobi's hand halted.

"All the other children her age are already enrolled and will be starting the new school year soon." Minnato turned to face his superior his mouth formed into a taunt line.

He remained silent, "She's not like other children." He removed the pipe out of his mouth his large hat slanting downward to hide his expression from Minnato's view, "You and I both know how the citizen would react to her. I don't want her to live with in a world surrounded by hate. People fear what they don't understand, what they've never seen.." he looked over to see the dazed expression on my face.

"Then let's put a trail run. Let her interact with another child. It isn't right to keep a child sheltered for too long, she already escaped yesterday. After being out there once it would only be a matter of time until she decided to go again." Minnato attempted to reason.

"And what would you suggest?" Sarutobi placed his pipe back into his mouth.

A small smile appeared on Minnato's face, knowing that the Hokage was already warming up to the idea, "I'll take her to the park right away."

He nodded in response.

"Kazumi-chan~." Minnato called out to me pulling me out of my daze.

"Hai~?" I chimmed Mikoto meowing with me.

"Why don't you come with me to get changed? We're going to go outside for a bit." Minnato walked over to my side.

"Outside..?" I questioned my red eyes glittering with visible excitement.

"That's right." Minnato nodded Ji-san smiling faintly behind him. "So why don't you go and get ready so we can go." He knelt down to my level his warm grin only making the excitement I felt grow.

"Kay~!" I sang running off to go and get dress, Mikoto following close behind me.

I furiously threw open my closet door and put on another cat eared hoody, the color a soft mint green color that let the dark strands of jaded green hair that escaped the drawn hood to stand out. To accompany the hoodie I wore a grey pleated skirt and the shiny rubber boots from before on my feet. Twirling around to look in the mirror once to check my appearance to make sure my tail and ears were hidden as Ji-san had continued to instruct me while growing up I nodded before skipping out of my room to see Minnato standing next to my door.

"Let's go Minna-chan, Let's go!" I pleaded tugging at his arm practically dragging the taller man out of the building.

"Okay, Okay." Minnato allowed me to drag him out.
