"Come on kid, cheer up!" Plagg urged from my satchel. I sighed as I continued to stare out the window of my dad's car."I can't I..." I trailed off as I choked on the knot that had built in my throat. After a few minutes the car stopped in front of the library. I picked up my bag and made my way outside hesitantly. I stood in front of the large grey building for a few seconds.
"What's wrong kid?" Plagg asked as he peeked his head from my satchel.
"Nothing Plagg, no memories..." I replied sadder than I had intended. He didn't say anything and tucked his head back in my bag as I made my way up the stairs to the entrance. The library had 2 floors and it was really busy. Kids and adults alike were looking at books and doing homework. All the computers were downstairs, making that floor the busiest. After a few seconds I decided to head upstairs. When I arrived, I made my way over to an empty desk near the corner of the second floor.
"A-Adrien?" a soft voice made me turn around. A girl with raven hair tied in two pigtails stood behind me. She was clutching what seemed to be a medical book to her chest.
"Uh...hi?" I replied unsure as I rubbed the back of my neck.
"W-what are you here? I mean why are you d-doing, I mean..oh!" she groaned as she glanced down at the floor. Her cheeks were bright red. I arched an eyebrow wearily.
"I'm sorry, can I help you with something?" her blue-bell eyes widened at my question.
"H-how are you feeling?" she asked without looking up. I shrugged.
"I'm fine, I guess..." I trailed off. "I'm sorry, what's your name again? I'm afraid my memory isn't too good these days..." She smiled sadly.
"I'm Marinette, I'm the daughter of the Dupain-Chengs..." My eyes widened with excitement.
"The bakers!?" she nodded. "Oh wow! I didn't know they had a daughter. Then again I don't get out much..." I said sheepishly. "Your parents make the best bread in Paris. I know cause I've traveled a lot." Her face lit up when I said that.
"Really? You like our bakery's stuff?" she asked, a hint of surprise in her voice.
"Yea! I'm usually on a strict diet because of my modeling, but when I get a cheat day I always order from your bakery!" She smiled happily. My heart thumped uneasily in my ears as a snippet of memories flashed across my mind. "Agh!" I groaned as a sharp pain struck the side of my head. I staggered as I fought to regain my composure.
"Adrien, are you okay!?" she asked as she rushed to my side.
"Y-yea, I'm..." I trailed off when I caught sight of her so close. She had leaned in quite a bit so when I looked up, our noses almost touched.
Her face went from peach to crimson in a second. "I-I-I'm s-sorry I shouldn't have gotten so c-close!" she stuttered as she turned away. "I-I have t-to go...." she said just before taking off towards the stairs.
"Wait Marinette!" I shouted but she was already gone. My heart raced in my chest as I stood there for a few seconds.
"Wow, what was that?" Plagg asked as he peeked out of my bag. My heart was still pounding in my ears.
"I don't know..." I said as I tried to shake off that familiar yet foreign feeling.
"Did you remember something?" he asked as he eyed me suspiciously. I stared at the floor for a few seconds.
"I got this overwhelming feeling of deja-vu when we looked at each other. It was like, like something similar had happened before..." I trailed off as I rubbed the side of my head. He shot me a sympathetic glance. "Plagg, was that girl important to me before?" I asked without looking up.
"Kid, you have no idea..."
