Chapter Three.
Nicks POV:
We walked into a small cafe just a few minutes from Ava's house. It was a coral pink, and had white window frames. She frowned.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"Oh, nothing. I'm just thinking."
"What about?"
"It's..complicated."
"Oh, i get it." I wasn't getting any answers. I had to make her trust me.
"Yeah." She sighed. We ordered our food, sharing a pepperoni pizza.
"Does this count as a date?" i winked.
She hesitated "Uh, i guess."
I ignored the jab. "You seem distracted."
"Again, it's complicated. Just new school and stuff, its a little intimidating."
"Right, well if you ever need to talk, i'm here."
She giggled. "Now you sound like a girl."
"hey!" i protested, she smiled. "i'm just saying."
"I know, i know." She laughed. "Thanks, i appriciate it."
"No problem." We finished our pizza and started walking out of the cafe. We had taken my car so i took the honors of driving her home. It was dark now, and we were silent as we drove, not the awkward silence though, the silence felt right, appropriate. We pulled into her driveway. Avas car was still missing, meaning she wasn't home from work yet. Perfect.
"Thankyou." She whispered, about to get out of my car.
"Spence, wait." She whipped back around, looking straight at me. Now or never. I leaned in slowly and kissed her perfect pink lips. She didn't kiss back, but she didn't pull away. She kind of just let me kiss her, after about a minute she pulled away and hopped out of my car, saying nothing. I was confused, a little hurt actually, and Nick Masters is never hurt.
Spencers POV:
"Thankyou." i whispered, turning around and stepping out of the car.
"Spence, wait." Nick gaped. I whipped around in my seat, staring at him, waiting for him to saying something. He didn't. He leaned in, he was going to kiss me. I started gettings sweaty and nervous. I liked Nick, just not like this. His lips touched mine and he seemed to get into it a bit, i just staying still. Too shocked to do anything, after a little while i pulled away and ran out of his car. I felt bad, i'd just led him on. I shouldn't have kissed him. Damnit Spencer. Oh, and since when does Nick call me Spence? I plopped on to my bed.
"ughh," i groaned, running my fingers through my knotted hair. The door swung open,
"Spencer?" My mother breathed hard.
"Uh, yeah?" i said.
She breathed a sigh of relif. "Nevermind, i thought you were gone."
"Where would i have gone?" i asked curiously.
She hesitated. "No-no where. but, i need you to change your number, now."
"It's like 11 at night."
"After school tomorrow then."
"Oh...kay." She started toward her bedroom. "Oh, and mom?"
She whipped around "It's Ava to you." I shook off the sting. "And no more questions, i'm going to bed." She stammered into her room and shut the door. Opportunity. I quietly tiptoed down the stairs.Using my phone as a light i went over toward the book shelf. I took several books out, flipping through them, looking for pictures. When i found nothing, i put them back.
"Ugh." I whispered in fustrastion. I stood on my tip toes, grabbing a book from the top that caught my eye. The side of the book read Vampire. I opened the booked. Jackpot. Inside were every picture of me i could remember being taken. Of course ones from when i was little which i clearing didn't remember were included too. As much as Ava didn't want to admit it, she at least cared about me some what. I studied the various pictures, after putting the book, pictures included, back onto the shelf. I grabbed a water from the fridge and climbed the stairs up to my room. I lay on my bed until i drifted asleep.
Stiles POV:
I pulled up into the parking lot, hopping out of my silver porsche. Nick ran up beside me, smiling big.
"Dude, i kissed her." He enthused, practically jumping.
"Uh, kissed who?"
"Spencerrrrr." He rolled the r. My heart sank. Dude, what are you doing. I can't let myself get this way over a girl who clearly likes my bestfriend.
"Oh." He could tell i was less than impressed.
"Common man, she's totally hot. You can't tell me you don't think so."
"No, i do. Thats the problem, i kinda like the girl."
"Well, rules are rules."
"What rule?" I groaned, hoping he would bring up the 'kiss her first' rule we'd made up in the 7th grade.
"You know what rule. Whoever kisses her first, gets her."
"Common man, we made that up in the 7th grade!"
"Whatever." He looked at the ground.
"Look, i don't wanna play with this one. Alright?" I looked him straight in the eyes.
"Don't wanna play what?" Julie inturrupted, with a smirk on her face. "Talking about the new girl?"
"What can i say, girls got a thing for me." Nick grinned, clearing not caring about anything i'd said.
"Oooh really? From what i could see yesterday she had a thing for Stiles."
"Nah, that was just temperary. She hadn't met me yet. We sorta madeout last night." Nick looked up at the sky, smiling wide. I wanted to punch the smirk off his face. Julie could see i was irrititated.
"Is someone jealous?" She softly punched my shoulder. I kept a straight face and looked at my feet. "Ooh, speak of the devil, there she is. Go getter boys."
I perked my head up, and sure enought. There she was, climbing out of her car. She looked stunning. She wore a short tight black skirt that went just past her belly button, a floral print putton up quarter sleeve shirt which was tucked it. She saw Nick and her face turned hard. Julie ran over there and i couldn't make out what she said, but whatever it was, got Spencer to come over to me and Nick.
"I was just telling Spencer how the two of you were fighting over her."
"Classy." She playfully rolled her eyes.
"Hey, what can i say." I winked. The cluster of kids standing at frount of the buliding started to scatter inside. Must have been the warning bell. I sighed, pulling my backpack over my shoulder.
"Walk with me." I told Spencer. She nodded slowing, and started toward me. I looked at Julie, telling her with my glare to keep Nick occupied. She did just that.
"Hi." Spencer broke the silence.
"I heard about you and Nick." I looked at the ground.
"What did he tell you?"
"You mean what did he brag to me?" she laughed, and nodded. "Well, he said you guys madeout."
"Well, call it what you will, but there was aboslutely no tounge action." She laughed and i tried hard not to let out a sigh of realif. "He kissed me, and i guess i didn't pull away, but i'm not into him."
"He sure thinks so."
"I feel bad that i'm leading him on."
"Nick can handle it." She looked out into the distance. "Can i take you somewhere?"
"We have school." She frowned.
"Hey, you're new! Your names not even on role yet, you won't be missed."
"And you?"
"I can skip a day." She thought about it for a minute.
"Where are we going?" She smiled.
"Just follow me."
