~Alex~
I stood behind the counter of the Starbucks I worked at, watching the costumers discuss among themselves my latest essay on abortion. I decided to start of the next trilogy of essays with an informative essay, and the next one will be pro-life, and the last one with be an over all conclusion. I had the feeling however based on how everyone had reacted throughout the day that this trilogy would end up being posted on the Facebook page.
I love it when that happens.
It was pretty late right now though, and my coworkers were all getting kinda tired.
Not me though.
I'm used to staying up really late.. I guess that's why Maria gives me the night shifts often. Not that I mind, honestly. It's nicer to go with the night crowd because it's usually semicalmer, and often it's college students pulling all-nighters for something.I turned to the door when the little bell dinged, and smiled brightly, seeing my best friends: Hercules Mulligan and Lafayette. And was that.. John Laurens? My newest friend?
I waved to them, moving to take over the cash register since no one was there. "Hey there! Welcome to Starbucks guys, what can I get for ya tonight?" I asked, trying to act normal. I could tell John was trying to do the same.
"Hey Alex! Have you met John before?" Hercules asked, motioning to John. I nodded.
"Yeah, we met over at Willow's Meadow the other day actually." I explained. Laf gasped.
"You were stargazing and you didn't invite us? Alexander, you should be ashamed of yourself!" All four of us laughed.
"C'mon Laf, you know I can't see anything with you and Herc using flashlights all the time cause you're afraid of the dark~" I grinned, watching Laf fake being hurt.
"You'll regret that Alex." We laughed again.
"Dudes we needa meet up just the four of us sometime. We have a full revolutionary set now! We need to GROUP IT man!" Hercules grinned. "Alex I'll invite you to the Revolutionary Set Discord server, you'd love it! It's us three, soon to be you too, and a few other folks. I think you'd get along with them great!"
I smiled brightly. "Sounds great! But if anyone else comes in the store you'll be holding up the line. Let's chat later, and work on getting your orders now."
The three of them all ordered different things, and John told me to get myself a coffee and that he'd pay for it. He smiled super sweetly when he offered. Damn that smile! I swear I just blanked for a moment when I saw it and forgot what I was supposed to do. I'm lucky he didn't notice my blush... Though I'm sure Laf did. The dude notices everything..
The three of them got their drinks, I got mine, and they left. I did have to explain to Maria why I had the coffee, but she just laughed and seemed chill with it, saying she was just asking me about it after having glanced at mine and John's interaction on the security cams in the back.
"Keep that one close, Hamilton." She said after I'd told her how we'd met. Maria's a pretty good friend by the way, outside of work anyways. "I think you two will get along just fine."
She walked off after that, leaving me.. Somewhat confused.
I didn't have time to think about what she'd said though, as a huge group of college students came in for an all-nighter.
Whoo boy, let's get this night started.
