Stacy
It's funny how your life is built on the decisions you make and the people you meet.
Turning from side to side, I admired my reflection in the full-body mirror and I smiled.
I am wearing a black v-neck wrap dress with elbow-length butterfly sleeves. It screamed class yet clung to my every curve and gave me an eye-popping cleavage. I had teamed the dress with a pair of black ankle strap heels, and I wore my golden tresses down to my slender waist.
"Sop!" I called as I looked behind me. "Let's go!"
My beloved eighteen year-old twin didn't seem to hear me. She was too busy reading a book.
I took the opportunity to study her appearance: Her long brown hair was tied back in a ponytail and she was dressed in an olive green keyhole peasant blouse, pale blue jeans and brown sandals. She had dolled up a little, and I didn't even need to make a hurricane mess of her closet this time.
We were going to a prestigious location, after all.
Through the mirror, I could see Sophia totally riveted to the book in her hands. I let out a sigh. "Did you say something, Ace?" she finally asked.
I shot her a thrilled smile. "My appointment was canceled and there's a sale at NBS right now."
She jumped off her bed like a scalded cat. "Are you serious!?"
I instantly grabbed a pillow from my bed and chucked it at her from across the bedroom.
"Of course not!" I felt no remorse when her spirits deflated and her lips formed a sulky pout.
"That was cruel," she complained, following me out of the room and then down the staircase.
My yellow hair bounced and followed every movement I made. "But it got you pumped, right?"
A loud groan slipped from my twin sister's mouth, making me giggle as we exited the house.
My boyfriend Lucas, and Sophia's best friend Liam were waiting for us at Sentimental Sweets, our family bakery which was just across the street, so my sibling and I walked there.
I pushed the glass door of the confectionery and was welcomed by cold air and the scent of sugar and bread. The bakery was packed with teenagers and adults munching on their desserts.
It was obviously a busy day for Ate Jolene and Ate Jasmine.
"You guys set to go?" Sophia asked Liam and Lucas when we approached their table.
I leaned over to kiss Lucas on the cheek. He gave me a big smile. "You look incredible, Ace."
"As always," I told him with a smirk.
The two guys rose from their seats and escorted us girls outside. The four of us rode a jeep to the bus terminal and climbed aboard a bus which was heading to Makati, Manila.
If we rode a train,it would have taken forty minutes. So we opted for the bus instead.
Twenty minutes later, we got off the bus and stood in front of the high-rise structure I had grown very fond of in the past five years.
Glam Models & Shooting Star is an imposing thirty-nine-story red-brick building with a glossy, black front door.
It was just after 1pm. The sun was scorching hot and the blue sky was devoid of clouds. This particular Tuesday afternoon was yet another blazing day in the Philippines--so annoying.
I pushed the buzzer next to the glossy black door and a few moments later a crackly American woman's voice said: "Good Afternoon. How may I help you?"
