Skylar POV, 11:40 AM, Sunday
"What are you doing here?" I demanded.
Rayshawn glanced at me, chuckling under his breath. "Well, hello to you, too."
"Rayshawn, I'm serious. I said I would be fine," I growled at him.
"And I'm just here to make sure you're right about that," he said, getting up from his seat and stepping in fromt of me, putting his hands on my shoulders. "I'm just looking out for you. I swear I won't bother you while you work."
I sighed and pulled away from him. I didn't have enough energy to fight him on this anymore.
"You better not bother me. And I work double shifts today so you're gonna be here a long time," I muttered as I walked away from him and slid behind the bar.
I started wiping the bar down, and pulling drinks out of the storage rooms and organizing them on the shelves.
A couple hours later, Rayshawn brought us lunch and we ate at one of the empty tables. I would probably never say this to him but I really loved eating with him. He was funny, smart, and even though he didn't show it much, he could be really sweet.
After a few more hours of working the bar for the few souls that were there, and helping set up the equipment for the DJ, the club started to fill up with people.
Jacky showed up twenty minutes late for her shift, as usual, and I had had to cover for her, as usual.
"Where were you?" I shouted over the music.
"The sitter showed up late again and I had to catch a bus because some dumb ass nigga slashed my tires," she explained apologetically.
"It's cool, it's just hard to keep covering for you when Garrett asks where you are. He's gonna figure out I'm lying and then he'll fire both of us," I stated.
"I know, I know and I'll work on it," Jackyl promised as she put her hair up in a messy bun on top of her head and started pulling out classes.
We worked the bar peacefully for another half hour before Garrett walked by. I internally groaned.
"Hey, Sylar, Jackyl," He greeted, automatically letting his eyes slide down to Jacky's breasts .
How is it he always forgets my name even though I constantly remind him, but he gets her when she never reminds him?
Maybe it's because he always stares at her chest where her nametag is, a small voice said in my head.
"Hello Mr. Reynolds," we said.
Our boss slid across the counter, not even asking for his usual drink, just pulling a bottle off the shelf.
I tried to cover the look of revulsion I felt growing on my face. But I could tell by his expression that he saw it.
He took a step closer to me, putting his hand on the bar behind me. He leaned his head a little closer to mine.
"Is there something on your mind, Sylar?" Garrett demanded in my ear.
"No, sir, nothing at all. Except that my name is Skylar," I murmured.
"That's what I said, baby," he rolled his eyes at me. "Jacky, I would like to speak to you in my office for a moment."
He turned on his heel and walked away, giving my butt a hard squeeze in the process. Jacky followed behind him. He never gave the bottle back.
"Who was that creepy ass nigga?" a voice asked from in front of me. I jumped, whipping my head around to see Rayshawn sitting in a stool in front of me.
