The machines were falling from the sky. Each mechanical monster had fallen on the ground, limp and as lifeless as a rag doll. There was nowhere for one to go, as they smothered buildings they also crushed some people inside.
The ships were leaving. It appeared as if clouds were chasing after them. Lightning struck within them, but they were also moving very fast and higher as if they were leaving the atmosphere. Chasing after them. They seemed to rise higher into the sky and people watched as they stood guarding Planet Earth below.
Beams of light struck up from multiple directions all across the globe. Some came from the pyramids. Others from the Mayan ruins and other sites. They all conjoined in the sky, connecting into a grid like pattern.
Then fumes came out. They stretched across the sky in a myriad of colors.
For the first time, people came out of their house.
One large Hispanic family in Hopewell, Virginia, called the Reina family, came out of their house to look. The eldest daughter, with her long jet black hair, watched as her younger siblings played under the sky and her parents kissed. She looked up at the sky, realizing that the aliens were gone, and whispered, "Gloria a Dios."
...
Henry and Daniel got up after sending the transmission for they heard the faintest of sounds. It was the television.
They crept out into the living room. Surely the transmission couldn't have worked so fast.
There on the television was a newscaster.
"In a remarkable turn of events, the aliens have decided to leave Planet Earth."
Footage was shown of clouds chasing the planets away and swirling colors in the sky.
"We have recently been given an interview with Starship Enterprise's newest celebrity, Demi Spencer. Demi was seen throwing herself onto Emma Swift just minutes before what would have been a tragic terrorist attack on the elite of Hollywood. It was then that they were suspended in time, kept until the invasion was over. Demi, how did you know that Emma Swift was going to attack and what happened those moments that the ship was suspended in time?"
Demi pouted her lips in thought.
"I think" she said, "That we are all trying to run away from something. I was trying to run away from my own past, and so was Emma Swift. That's why the aliens targeted her. They come into our brain, feeding off our negative energy and using us to do bad things. When divine intervention came in, a higher power told me what to do. That's what I did. I don't remember what happened while we were gone, but we are here now."
Henry stared jaw dropped at the television. He hardly noticed the door closing.
Daniel ran down the steps. He came into the car port to turn on his car, and drove down to downtown Atlanta where the Starship Enterprise sat. There was no traffic around, and he was quickly able to speed down there without a speeding ticket. He saw he ship in ruins with several celebrities coming out. Nobody stopped him from running in.
There, he entered into a massive ballroom. The people were left like they were before the invasion. They rubbed their heads frustratingly, asking one another how they got there.
Emma Swift had been handcuffed and took by the police. Luke Skylar ran after her, shouting "Baby! It's okay! We are going to get through this. There is still nobody in the world I love more than you."
Demi walked to her friends.
They hugged her.
"I'm sorry" said Eleanor, holding onto her tightly.
"It should be me saying I'm sorry. I'm the one that fell for all the glamour, thinking that it would change me. I couldn't appreciate what was right in front of me."
She looked from Eleanor, to Rachel, and then to Mabel.
"You guys have given me some of my fondest memories, and I will never allow myself to take for granted those memories again."
They hugged
Daniel watched as the girls went off to get drinks, and Demi sat on the floor. She looked shocked by the events that had unfolded, looking into the ballroom floor as if Emma Swift was still there.
He marched over to her. She noticed him, but looked away. He sat right next to her.
Then Daniel looked over.
"You're that girl who saved all the celebrities."
She laughed.
"I saved Earth too" he said. "We were kept very busy while you were up there."
They introduced themselves.
"Do you find it hard to believe that Emma Swift could be a terrorist. Luke Skylar thought so."
"Nah" said Daniel. "I got engagned to a seemingly perfect girl not too long ago. It was to run from my own guilt for the things I had done, and because I mistakenly beleived that life could be so simple."
She held his hand in hers.
"I know in time you will tell me your story. For now, I would like to just get to know you. Would you like that?"
Daniel nodded.
"That sounds so refreshing."
Adinda angrily called his cellphone number, but he ignored it.
He got romantically involved with Demi before the court date. While Daniel eventually had to give Adinda a big portion of his money and become much poorer while living with his new girlfriend, he did not regret the decision. Moving on from Adinda to Demi was moving on from someone who was good for pretense to someone who actively lived forgieness and peace. He learned much from her, and in time he was able ot learn much from his mistakes.
...
A knock came on the door.
Henry turned to see Nicole and Taylor walk in.
"Oh my god! Oh my god!!!!" he cried, running over to hug them.
They both laughed hard.
He was crying, and seeing this they cried too.
"I thought I would never see you again" he said.
"You big goof. We would never leave you" said Nicole. "Though it has been quite and adventure."
Taylor held Henry by the shoulders.
"Come sit down. I'll make you some tea. It's going to be a very long story."
