Or sad
Or angry
Or crushed
Or hateful
I can't be jealous
Or upset
Or sorrowful
Or furious
Or wish you were mine
Because if I ever cared for you, all I can be is
Happy for you
Grateful that I ever met you
Glad we were friends
Fascinated by how you continue to grow
Satisfied with my time with you
Amazed at how you live
Happy for everything you've done
Looking at you
Living your best life
I notice
You're smiling
You're enjoying life
You're running in the sand
You're watching the sunset
You're taking pictures
You're having a photo shoot
You're riding bikes
You're renewed
Restored
Rested
You are happy
And what could I ever want more,
Than for you to be happy?
Truly happy?
Nothing
Because I cared for you
More than I'd like to admit
And I still care for you
And seeing you happy
Makes me realize that not all is bad in the world
Because when people spilt up
New people are found for them
No one is alone
And people prove that every day
So, continue to be happy
Continue to love
Continue to breathe in the salty air
Continue to take random pictures
Continue to get sunburnt from playing outside all day
Continue to live
To love
To thrive
Because that's all I've ever wanted for you
