EPILOGUE PART II
Reunited
Seoul looked as vibrant as ever. Nothing much has changed, except for some business stores growing and some being replaced by new ones. Jungkook knew he was just 'returning home' but for some reason, he acted like a kid who's about to experience his field trip for the first time.
After they finished their lunch at a local restaurant, the two chatted for a while before they start to meet up with others.
"Hey, I'm sure you still have the place memorized so you won't get lost, right?" Yoongi asked, just to be sure.
"Huh? Yeah, I still know where this street goes, and this street, and this..." Jungkook said as he checked at everything. Yoongi couldn't help but to release a sigh.
"Just don't go somewhere I don't know. You still have to take your medicines."
"By the way, what happened to me? What about the people who knew me? Do they think I'm dead?"
"I don't know, check the graveyard or something."
Jungkook gave Yoongi a judging look. The other realized this and coughed. "I'm joking, if you can't tell."
The younger just scratched his cheek and replied. "Oh, I see. Don't say that with a serious face."
"If you're eager to see the others, we should hurry."
"Okay. So where do we start looking for them?"
Yoongi shrugged his shoulders. "You know Taehyung best so just look around and you'll find him. Besides," he glanced at his wristwatch. "I have somewhere to go, let's just meet up later an hour from now at the park."
Saying good byes, both of them went to their own ways for now. As Jungkook passed through the busy street, his mind kept on guessing the places where Taehyung might be.
"I should check his house." he decided. Though as he was about to look around for a taxi, he realized he had no wallet or phone in hand. He slapped himself in the forehead for not asking some pocket money from Yoongi.
"What to do... I can't go there by foot." Jungkook muttered to himself.
Students dressed in uniform passed him one by one. That certainly gave him an idea.
"But wait, Taehyung can't be in school right now, right? As I've heard, three years has passed since then," Jungkook thought out loud. "I was actually thinking about the janitor's closet but-- oh yeah, the dormitory. It is a fifteen minute walk from here."
And so, he let his feet and sense of direction take him to the place that was deeply carved in his memory.
He went inside the building and asked the lady cleaning the lobby below. It seemed like a new worker, he haven't met her before.
"Good morning, sir. Are you looking for somebody?" she asked.
"Ah, I actually own a room here," Jungkook replied. The woman gave him a confused gaze. She went to the counter and browsed at a thick book that seemed like a directory.
"I see, I'm sorry sir. I guess I haven't seen you before. Can I ask for your room number?"
"It's on the third floor, room 312."
"Are you acquaintances with the Han siblings?"
"No, I'm roommates with Jung Hoseok."
The woman nervously approached the landline phone and gave him a threatening look. "Jung Hoseok left the dorms two years ago. People who don't stay here in the dormitory are now allowed to go inside unless an event is being held. You're a burglar aren't you? I'm calling the security!"
"W-What? No wait, I forgot that I was asleep for three years. But can I ask questions about the other tenants like a person named--"
And no matter how detailed his explanation was, the woman didn't buy his story and thought he was only digging his grave further. So in the end, Jungkook was kicked out of the dormitory.
He scratched his head in annoyance. 'Maybe I should just meet up with Yoongi hyung at the park.' Jungkook thought.
"Let's see, the park was at the second block--"
His thoughts were stopped when he saw someone crouched down at the dormitory outside garden near the road. Looking at the person's figure, it was a man. His back was turned to Jungkook, but he was sure that the man was looking at a tree trunk with a rose in his hands.
This man's shoulders went up and down quickly, as if he was sobbing.
"No way, it was that easy to find him?" Jungkook whispered to himself as he stepped closer to the man's direction.
The man turned to his side and walked to a car parked nearby. Seeing his side profile stunned Jungkook, it was definitely him.
"Taehyung!" he shouted. Or at least he wanted to. At that moment, his feet were glued to the ground and his shouts were nothing more than a whisper. He was just standing still with mixed feelings of excitement, terror, nervousness and sadness as he saw the sorrow painted on Taehyung's face. He hadn't changed drastically at all within three years, he just looked more mature and he had round glasses on.
Before he knew it, Jungkook was already crying. And before he even realized, the car Taehyung just rode on was already moving on the road.
"Wait! Taehyung!"
This time, his shouts were successful. Even though he was trying his best to run and catch up to the car, the other didn't realize somebody was running behind him because he was too focused on driving.
After five full minutes of chasing that car with his max speed, Jungkook stopped to take a deep breath. Normally he can run more but his body seemed a lot weaker ever since he woke up from his deep sleep.
He just stared at the car with his palms resting on his knees.
"T-Tae.... Taehyung..." he called out in a weak tone in between breaths, hoping that a miracle would happen.
And as if fate heard his prayer, the car suddenly stopped and a sound of a car door opening was a blessing to his ears.
"F-Finally. Did he notice me?"
Unfortunately, because Jungkook was far away from him at that moment, Taehyung wasn't aware of his presence. The older boy walked down a steep and disappeared from Jungkook's sight.
Despite being tired, Jungkook used all of his energy left and dragged himself to the spot where Taehyung parked his car. He was too tired to even think about where he is now, what's important is that he was close to seeing Taehyung at last.
There was a small building not so far from there and a clean empty lot. Taehyung is seen to be sitting down at the low slope, his back was once again turned to Jungkook.
It looks like he didn't have any plans of leaving the spot soon, so Jungkook took his time to fix himself up and catch his breath to at least make himself look presentable the moment they finally reunite.
Calming himself down, he is finally ready to face him.
"Hey, Taehy--"
"Papa!"
Jungkook's whole body stiffened after hearing a child say that. She ran to Taehyung and hugged him tightly. He always thought that television dramas were an exaggeration, but the way he felt at that moment was certainly not.
