Fatality

The meeting with Mark and Chielle was sickening. Finding out that Jackson's kind had led to The Great Fall was so shocking that I had pretty much disappeared on him for 4 days. I had refused to take his phone calls or answer any texts asking me to see him. I needed time to comprehend all the information that I had acquired. Joy was even blowing up my phone, leaving countless voicemails begging me to call her and Jackson back but I just couldn't. Thankfully neither of them knew which hotel I had switched to, so they couldn't show up at my door and drag me out. But I'm sure Jackson being the chief of police could probably just track my phone, right? Or was it illegal to do that if I wasn't a suspect? I didn't even know up from down anymore.

The one thing that gave me the most trouble was Chielle urging me to kill him. Mark was adamant about it to. It was either that or I completely break up with him and leave town, but I couldn't find myself at peace with either decision. Killing Wang would solve a lot of my problems but the thought of doing so brought on this funny feeling in my chest. Leaving New York didn't make me feel right either. I really was in a damned if you do or damned if you don't situation. However, both of them were right, I had to do something. I just wasn't sure what that something was.

Tonight, I felt too stuffy in my hotel room, I needed to get out, possibly hunt or something. But the thought of hunting wasn't giving me the same thrill anymore. The next best thing was to hang around happy auras and just absorb a fraction of their energy. Mark had showed me how he does it to avoid needing to hunt all the time. Luckily, New York is the city that never sleeps, something is always happening at night and sure enough I found myself in a crowd downtown outside of a bar. An older one of them was playing the guitar and one of the spectators had started singing along to the music. The sound of the guitar was pleasant, and the melody calmed my wings that I didn't even notice had started to burn and itch. I felt a shift of energy around me and I looked up to see a tall, handsome black male counterpart smiling down at me.

"Hi" He said somewhat shyly, "My name is Timothy"

"Hey Timothy, I'm Feorie" I said back with a smile. His energy was calm and I got a hint that he found me attractive.

"Wait, Feorie?" He looked at me confused, "As in Feorie Feorie?"

It was my turn to be confused now, "What do you mean?"

"You're Chief Wang's girlfriend" He said simply. All energy of being attracted to me diminished immediately. Wang talks about me at work? Wow. This new knowledge made me feel....validated. I didnt understand why that word popped up in my head to describe it.

"Have we met before?" I asked looking up at him.

"No, but it's nice to finally put a face to the name. He's constantly talking about you but no one has ever seen you before. The guys in the department were beginning to think he had made you up" Timothy said laughing.

I giggled too, "Well you can assure them that I'm actually flesh and blood".

"They'll be glad to know it" He smiled. He was getting ready to say something else but we both heard a voice call out it his name. A very familiar voice. The both of us turned to see Jackson making his way over and as soon as his eyes landed on me he looked shocked and then guarded.

"Hey" He simply said to the both of us.

"Chief Wang! I've finally met your lovely lady here" Timothy pointed over at me, "She's actually real"

"Yes, she is" Wang responded not even looking at me. I didn't need to feel his energy to know he was being cold to me on purpose. Suddenly I was beginning to feel like a deflating balloon.

"Well, ugh" Timothy started, immediately feeling the awkwardness of the situation, "I'm gonna head on into the bar, my favorite band is playing tonight. Have a good night Chief Wang. It was nice to meet you Feorie"
