Where the hell was my freaking phone? I woke up this morning and couldn't find it anywhere! I had even dumped out my purse and flipped my whole hotel room looking for it. Where the hell could I have put the damn thing? I felt anxious because I left that note for Jackson saying I would call him and now he's probably thinking that I flaked out on him once again. Ugh. I don't know why I was so mad about my phone missing but there was an insidious panic building up inside of me because I didn't know where I had last seen it. I could've dropped it anywhere!

I had decided that since I couldn't find the damn thing I should just go over to the police station and see if Wang was there, but he wasn't. I ran into Timothy who explained that Jackson was still at the scene of a crime and he didn't know when Wang would be back. Shit. I might as well just wait for him at his apartment because I damn sure wasn't going to stick around the police station. If Jackson was a Xiezhi maybe there were other police who were like that too. The thought was ridiculous, but I couldn't curb my sudden onset of paranoia and I didn't feel right until I was sitting on Jackson's couch. The note I had written him was still on his coffee table, but it wasn't quite where I had left it meaning he read it. But I hadn't called him. I wondered what he could be thinking.

I was sitting on the couch with the TV on watching some show of housewives bickering with each other when I heard the sound of the door opening and I knew he was home. I wasn't expecting him to be back until much later so the fact that he was here now made me feel a bit at ease but that feeling quickly went away when he walked into the room and stopped dead in his tracks at the sight of me.

"What are you doing here?" He asked, his tone of voice unrecognizable. My heart started beating rapidly beyond my comfort.

"I lost my phone, so I thought I'd just wait here till you got home since I couldn't call you" I said getting up, "What's wrong? You seem a bit off"

I took a step towards him and he backed away as if being near me would taint him. What the hell was going on?

"Where did you lose your phone?" He asked. The look on his face was stony and his eyes assessed me as if trying to see beyond me or something.

"Wang, I don't know. If I did I'd go back to wherever it was and go get it" I replied exasperated, "Why are you acting so weird? Are you still angry about last night?"

He didn't say anything as he looked at me and the only sounds to be heard was the dimmed volume on the TV. The housewives were having another argument and it seemed to foreshadow what was about to happen now.

"Show me" He said suddenly.

"What?" I asked confused.

"SHOW ME!" He shouted, and I felt myself flinch at the harshness of his voice.

"Jackson I don't know what the fuck you're talking about. Can we please stop with the games and just get to the root of whatever the hell is going on here?" I folded my hands across my chest defensively.

He smiled at me, but it wasn't a friendly smile, it was almost cruel like, his mouth twisted in a bitter way. Reaching into his pocket he pulled out something and held it up to me. Instantly I recognized my phone and I felt a wave of weakness overcome my body. My inner form was raging against me, I could feel her thrashing violently in my body, the intensity of the moment was too much.

"You think I took it don't you?" He asked as he began to step closer to me, "You wanna know where I found this? I found it at a crime scene earlier this morning. The crime scene that was meticulously spotless like all the other crime scenes that I had been working on for the past months. Never a trace was left, not a foot print, not a strand of DNA, nothing. Every day I kept killing myself trying to figure out what I wasn't seeing. My intuition had never failed me, but I had begun to doubt myself and lose myself but today I knew that I was up against a worthy opponent"
