“Alexandra!”  Mr. Lockwood called, but I just ignored it.  Tears were streaming down my face as I made it to the top step – half because of how much pain I was in, and half because of the mixed emotions swirling within me.  I tried crawling my way to my room, but suddenly collapsed as a rush of agonizing dizziness drew me to the floor.  The box fell from my grasp with a crash, but no matter how hard I tried I couldn’t get it back again.  I started seeing small black dots within my vision.  More and more of them flooded in – blotches getting bigger and bigger.  Every muscle in my body went limp as my eyes fell shut and blackness overwhelmed me.

The dark was replaced a by a blinding white light – something that was extremely familiar.  I walked forward carefully towards the man standing in the center of it, looking off as if in thought.

“Infinity?”  I asked just to be sure.

“Hello, Alexandra.”

“Please, don’t call me that.”

“Why not?”  His eyes were filled with calmness.  “It is your name.”

“No, it’s not.  My name is Alexa.”

He shook his head and grinned as he continued looking off.  “As I said before, that is a lie.”

“Then why can’t you tell me why my own father lied about my name?”  I folded my arms across my chest impatiently.

“You will find out very soon, I assure you.”

I looked down and half shut my eyes, wanting to cry.  No matter how hard I tried, the stream of tears I yearned for wouldn’t come.  “Infinity, can I ask you something?”

He turned to me and kneeled ever so slightly to my level.  “You may ask, but I cannot guarantee answers.”

“Okay,” I exhaled.  “Do you know how any of this is going to turn out?  I’m just… I’m just so scared of the future.”  I finally felt a single tear slide down my face.

He took his hand to my cheek and wiped it away gently.  His touch was cool and strangely comforting.  “I’m sorry my dear child, but even as the being I am, I am not as blessed as your Radke friend.”

My attention perked.  “You know about Levi?”

He nodded slowly.  “I do.”

“Oh,”

“Alexandra,” Infinity started.  “That boy is very special, and he does care a great deal about you.  Don’t make the same mistakes I did – don’t let him slip away.”

My lips parted as I stared at him.  Did he just say Levi cares about me?  How could he possibly know that, and why is he telling me?

“And Alexandra,” He brought my attention back to him.  “Howard means no harm.  He wants nothing more than to protect you – in fact – he’s just as mystified as you.”

“You’re talking about Mr. Lockwood, right?”

“Indeed.”  He straightened away from me and held his arms across his chest.  His gaze lifted outward as he stared into the blank light ahead of us.  “It is time for you to wake now, Alexandra.  The truth is rapidly approaching.”

I looked around half-expecting to find the time somewhere in the blinding area around us.  “But I’ve only been here for like two minutes.”

“Time ticks on much faster in spirituality, than in your physical world.”

I opened my mouth to speak, but the light had already intensified and swallowed us both within its burning rays.  Just as quickly, it was replaced with bitter darkness.
