Chapter 3:
Marino threw me over his shoulder and started walking to the opposite side of the room. I began to kick, driving my knees into his chest.
"oomph! Would you stop that!"
"Put me down!"
"You know you like it up there."
I groaned, and stopped flailing my legs.
The room was much larger then I expected. We had been maneuvering through large crates for what felt like hours. Finally we got to a small door, about 3 feet in height. He set me down, and ushered for me to go in. After sticking my tongue out at him, I started to crawl.
It was nearly pitch black, and the air smelt of sweat and mold. There was a dripping sound in the distance, and I swear I heard the scuffling of feet.
"You can stop now. We're here."
Just as I was about to get up someone forced me to the ground, and covered my mouth with their hand. It was too dark to see! I bit down as hard as I could, and the person cursed.
"Damn you Nadlynn!"
"Marino? What are you doing!?"
A sharp pain shot through my arm, as it was forced behind my back. I heard a metal click, and then nothing.
"All done."
I heard the flick of a switch, and a dim lamp illuminated the room. Marino had his arms crossed, smirking at me.
"What the fuck was that-"
I stopped mid sentence when I felt the cool metal on my wrist. Are you serious?
My left wrist was chained to a large, metal pole that stretched from floor to ceiling. There was only about two feet of chain between my wrist and the pole.
"What the fuck is this?"
He flashed me a real smile, his teeth glistening in the dim light.
"Well if you must know, this is where you'll be staying until I figure out what I'm going to do with you. "
"How do you know if I'm the real Nadlynn? I could be anybody."
"Nice try. You think I didn't notice your necklace?"
I clasped the cool metal hanging on my chest. It had the Jarvis family crest, embellished with diamonds. It was a gift from my father, that his father had given to him. I was to pass it down to my children, and at 18, that was the least of my thoughts.
"You won't get away with this."
"Oh, but I just did."
He walked towards the opening, and turned around one last time.
"Later, princess."
The door was shut, and I was all alone.
What was my Dad doing now back in London? I know he was oblivious to the fact that the crew he sent out was dead, and his daughter was being held captive by the captain's son. Who would tell him? Noone was alive to go back and relay the message. We were supposed to get to Africa in a week, and be back home the week after.
Two weeks.
That's how long it would take for anyone to know I was missing.
I once again began to sob, so hard until my head hurt. I hate Marino so much! I swear on my life I will make him pay. I thought about how and when to get my revenge, until I fell into a deep sleep.
AN: I know nothing major or "romantic" has happened yet, but be patient! Im just settimg up the plot first(: Hope you all liked it! All types of comments are appreciated! Next chapter is in Marino's POV.
