"Christ...Nadlynn! Are you alright? Are you not on the ship? It's dangerous for you to be using a phone, your call could get tracked down by the federal agencies and...God Nadlynn, what happened?"

I smiled. It was nice to know that he was worried about me.

"Oh dad, I miss you...And I'm fine. But, I've got bad news."

"What is it love?"

I took a deep breath.

"Dad, I'm not on the ship. We got attacked by Calypso, and the ship went down. I'm the only one left."

The line was silent. When my father spoke, his voice was stern; you could tell he was very upset.

"Nadlynn, where are you now? And how did you manage to get there?"

"I'm in France. Cannes, France. And....the Captain's son kinda...well, we both escaped the ship."

His voice was full of worry.

"Well Nadlynn I'm glad you're safe, but you must be careful. He's a Calypso regardless. They're all nothing but rubbish. Just try and get back home, okay?"

"Okay."

There was alot of shuffling in the background, and my dad began to speak in a hushed whisper.

"Alright, listen up Nadlynn. You say you're in Cannes? Tonight, I need you to go to Voie Rapide street. Right across from Club Hush, there's a maroon-colored rusty warehouse. Use the family crest to open the door, and call me with the phone in there; it works. Is the Captain's son with you now?"

"No, I'm alone."

"Good. What I need you to do, is bring Marino back to me. We'll hold him hostage here, and give him back only in exchange for the crystal. Then, we'll have everything we need to defeat them once and for all."

I gulped.

"Dad, don't you think that that's kinda harsh? He's trying to help me. He'd hate me the moment he'd find out that I was double crossing him."

"Then make sure he doesn't find out. "

"But dad-"

"Oh, don't tell me you're starting to have feelings for the boy!"

My cheeks turned pink.

"Of course not, dad! I'd never be that stupid. "

"Good. Then do as I say, and make sure he comes home with you. I'll give you more instructions later, love. I have to go now; stay safe. I trust you. You're the fiercest pirate I know."

"I learned from the best. Love you."

There was a click on the other end, and I hung up the phone with a sigh. I checked the clock on the wall, which read eight o'clock. Marino had told me to stay put, and there was no telling when he'd get back. I had to go now.

After slipping on a cream colored hoodie, I took the elevator down to the front desk. Just as I was about to step outside, a shrill sounding voice stopped me in my tracks.

"And just where do you think you're going?"

I turned around and saw Maryse in a rose gold dress that ended right at her ankles. Her fingers were furiously tapping her waist, and her platinum blonde hair was in a perfect, messy bun.

"Out. Don't worry about it."

"Hate to break it to you but Marino told me to make sure that you stay put until he gets back. So turn around, and go back upstairs."
