Chapter 5:
Marino's POV
I woke up with a terrible headache, as well as a stiff neck. Why was I even sleeping on a floor?
I looked to my left, and spotted an empty bottle of Jack Daniels. Well, that explains the headache, I thought. As I stretched, I noticed that my left wrist was cuffed and chained to the metal pole, like Nadlynn's had been.
Wait a second... The fuck??
I heard someone giggling from across the room, and looked to see Nadlynn smirking at me. She was lazily wrapped in the turquoise colored blankets I had brought her yesterday, and the term "bed head" was an understatement, when it came down to describing the frizzy brown mess on top of her head.
"Good morning, Marino. I hope you had a great night sleep."
"You better take this cuff off of my hand now, or you'll regret it. I'm fucking serious."
She fake yawned and rolled her eyes.
" Bullshit. What are you gunna do, shoot me?"
" At this point, I might. "
" Please. What happened to me not being worth anything dead? "
"Okay, you're really fucking pissing me off! Just get it off already!"
She sighed and took her sweet time getting up, removing the blankets at a snail's pace. After taking forever to stretch, she unlocked the cuff. I rubbed my red wrist with a scowl on my face.
"You really know how to get on people's nerves, don't you?"
"Next time, try not to get drunk and pass out. I wasn't even able to thank you for your compliment."
"Haha, compliment? That's a load of crap."
She smiled, and shook her head.
"It went something like, hey Nadlynn, your eyes...they're pretty."
I started to laugh, in attempt to hide the blood rushing to my cheeks. Did I really say that? Shit.
"Nice try, Nadlynn. I never said such a thing. And even if I did, I'm pretty sure I didn't mean it. I was drunk."
"If you didn't mean it, then why are you blushing so hard?"
My cheeks turned redder.
"I am not!"
"Yeah...you are."
"Am n-"
"Okay okay, whatever. I'm hungry. Go get me breakfast. In fact, I need to freshen up. So take me to a bathroom or something."
" I think you've forgotten your place. I control you; stop acting like I'm your butler on a cruise ship. You never know, I could turn you in right now if I wanted to. "
She flashed me a devilish grin, before responding.
"If you really wanted to turn me in, you would have done it already. You can't and you won't. So get me some breakfast, and take me to a bathroom. Now."
As much as I hated to admit it, she was right. If I was planning to turn her in, I would have done it when I found out who she was, or when my father announced how much she's worth. Something in my gut told me I'd regret it if I did, even though I would be free from this lifestyle.
I read the gold Rolex watch on my wrist. 7. Perfect.
"You're lucky, princess. Come on. You've got an hour."
