Chapter 4:
Erin's POV-
It had been 3 days since that day at the carnival with Liam, and I could still feel his kiss on my lips. Today was going to be wonderful as well. My best friend was taking me on a picnic up in the mountains. I was so excited. It had been close to 3 months since we had hung out. I dressed lightly in some jean cutoff shorts and a tank top. I was pulling my hair into a knot on my head when I heard the car horn outside. I grabbed my phone and wallet and ran towards the front door. The second I stepped outside, warm strong arms picked my up and twirled me around. "Put me down!" I squealed. He placed my feet back on the ground, and I looked into the eyes of the boy who was my savior. "So, Spence, where are you taking me today?" I asked, poking at him. "Oh I don't know, dinner, dancing, a trip to the moooooon." He smiled, poking me back. "Hardy har, very funny Spongebob," I replied sarcastically. "Hey, Mr. Krabs said that!" Always one to correct me. I loved him to death. "Okay, smarty pants, let's go," I said laughing, as I dragged him towards the car. We drove off towards the mountains, blasting music and singing at the top of our lungs. It was just fantastic. Spencer has a convertible, so we had the top down and all the windows down as well. I was so glad I put my hair up now. I threw my hands up in the air screaming as he drove faster and faster. We got to this hill and he threw the car into neutral and threw his hands up in the air too! "We're going into NEUTRAL!!" he screamed, laughing his head off. I grabbed his right hand in my left and we flew down the hill. Without any warning, a deer flew out into the middle of the road. I never saw it until we hit it. The car flew out of control and crashed into a tree. I never let go of Spencer's hand. The last thing I remember was feeling his blood trickle down my hand before I blacked out.
Liam's POV-
Today was going to be a good day. Niall was just waking up and was laid out on the couch. I did a little jig and hummed a bit while making some breakfast. The phone rang. "Niall, can you get that?!" I hollered. "Ugh," came the response. I heard a groggy "Hello" from the other room. I continued humming and cooking my eggs. Me and Niall and the other boys were going down to the lake today for some boating. Suddenly, Niall's voice sounded very awake and very very worried. "Are you sure?" he asked quietly. He waited for the response. "Okay, thank you, we're on our way," he said hastily. He hung up the phone and walked cautiously into the kitchen. I took my eggs off the burner and looked at him. "What?" I asked. "You look like you've just seen a ghost." I let out a little chuckle. Trying to keep the mood light. "It's Erin," he whispered, barely audible. "She's been in a car wreck. They don't know if she's going to make it." As soon as those words left his mouth, I grabbed my phone, keys, and Niall's wrist and headed for the car. He had more to say, but I wouldn't hear it. I didn't want to know any details. All I wanted to know was that she was alive. He was antsy and I knew what he needed to say was probably important, but I would let him speak. We arrived at the hospital 10 minutes later. I ran straight to the ER desk. "I-I'm looking for a girl. Erin. She was in a car wreck today," I managed to choke out. The clerk looked up at me. "Right this way," she said solemnly. She led me and Niall down a hallway with rooms divided with what looked like bed sheets. She came to a room and pushed back the sheet. "Here you are," she said. "Visiting hours end in 2 hours." She looked like she wanted to say more, but didn't and walked away. It didn't matter. I never heard her. All I saw was the sight in front of me. There was my little Erin, white as the sheets she was laying on. Blood was everywhere, several broken bones. But no, that wasn't the part I was consumed with. I only noticed one thing. My Erin, the one I loved with all my heart, was lying there, hand in hand with some other guy.
