"Huh?" I ask confused, covering my eyes, beginning to rub them.
"Whatever is making you sick, whatever is bringing you pain, must've triggered this to happen. This is what Bleddyn did in that dream. This is probably just the next step. Perhaps this is something hybrids do when they get triggered? Perhaps when our emotions overtake us this happens?"
I keep my eyes covered, ashamed of the way I look. Scared to even look at my reflection. I already know the piercing look that covers my face. I hate that Liam has to see me this way.
"Hey," he says gently rubbing his hands on the small of my back, "It's okay. Don't worry about it."
He grabs his dark brown aviators out of his coat pocket, and hands them to me.
"Put these on," he says, "We'll figure this out later, let's just go help Todd first. Just don't worry about it okay? With these on he won't even be able to tell that this is going on."
I nod slowly placing the big aviator glasses over my eyes. Everything around me turning a dark brown tint.
"Okay?" he asks, a sincere gentleness in his eyes, his lips slightly parted.
I allow myself to fall back into his arms. I feel as if I can breathe again. The pain and feeling of being sick, quickly vanishing.
"Thank you, Liam," I breathe into his chest, "For everything."
He places his lips near my ear. His breaths slow and deep, "Your welcome," he whispers.
"And you and Todd are staying at my house tonight. I don't feel comfortable for either one of you staying here tonight. Especially if your dad ends up coming back tonight. I think Todd is already traumatized enough. He really hurt Todd, Liam. Physically and emotionally. That's probably what I got triggered by. His pain, it was bringing me pain. I've never seen him so upset before." tears begin to fill my eyes once more.
"I know," he says, "Let's go up and tend his wound."
He trails back to the kitchen sink and grabs a damp washcloth and a huge bandage.
We both rush up the now freshly lit staircase towards Todd's room. The burning sensation behind my eyes beginning to diminish.
"Why are you wearing sunglasses?" Todd asks as we enter his bedroom. He hasn't moved one inch since we left.
"I have a headache," I lie, "Liam said it might help refrain from the light."
Liam lightly laughs behind me. A smirk spreading across my face. I probably could have thought of something more logical than that.
Liam and I both sit down on the floor beside Todd. Liam beginning to dab Todd's bloody wound with the damp washcloth. Todd winces at the pain and grips my leg tightly.
"Sorry," Liam says continuing to dab the wound, "This is one deep wound you've got bud."
"And dabbing it does not make it feel any better," Todd winces.
"Almost done," I say assuringly.
Liam then grabs the beige bandage from his lap and gently places it on Todd's raw wound.
"What are you guys even doing here anyway?" Todd asks confused, "I thought you guys were supposed to be at Watershed? Why did you guys decide to come home so quickly?"
Liam and I exchange glances at one another.
"We were tired. Thought we'd come home and watch a movie or something," Liam lies, a believable lie at that.
