"Did y'all see that," my home girl Alex asked. "Drew was killing that dance to that Chris Brown song."

"We know Alex. We were there remember," Jasmine, my other friend told her.

"Oh yeah. My bad, but he was so amazing."

"Yeah he was, but Kelsie is better. Right Kels," China asked me.

"I'm not better than him and you know it," I told her. School just ended for the weekend and we were walking to China's house to hang out and do what we normally do every Friday, have a movie marathon. Movie Fridays are the only times I look forward to since it's the only thing that takes my mind off of everything that's going on in my life.

"Kels, don't lie like that. You are better than him and you know it," Jazz and Alex said in unison.

"Kelsie don't you have to stay after school today for Mrs. Evans," China asked me.

"Oh snap. Yeah I do, I forgot about that. See you guys later at China's house right," I asked them.

"Yeah see you there Kels," they all said while I ran back into the school.

"I'm sorry I'm late Mrs. Evans," I said when I entered her classroom.

"It's okay Ms. Kelsie. Please sit down," she told me.

"Is everything okay? Am I in big trouble?"

"Everything is good and you're not in trouble this time," she said. "But I do have a question for you though."

"Yes," I asked kinda knowing where this is going.

"How is it at your foster home on Main Street? Have Mrs. Teal been treating you right?"

"Yes, she has."

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah, why?"

"Because I went there Wednesday this week and asked to speak to you. Guess what she told me? She told me that you don't live there anymore. Why would you lie to me Kelsie?"

"I don't like it when people are worried about me, that's all. I'm sorry for worrying you," I told her.

"It's okay. I'm just worried about you, that's all Kelsie. Do you mind telling me why you don't live there anymore?"

"She kicked me out," I told her. I just wanted to leave now.

"Was the reason because you're-"

"Yeah it was." I'm done with her bringing up this topic all the time. I know she knows by now that I hate talking about that.

"Sorry for bringing it up," she said quietly.

"It's okay. May I know what I have to do for punishment now?"

"Right sorry. Well I'm not going to make you do something since you look like you haven't slept in a while. So your punishment is to sleep in here for the next two hours."

"That's all," I asked her not believing what she just told me. She just nodded and pointed to my head and the desk.

"I'll be back around 5 okay," she stated before she walked out of the classroom. She closed the door and locked it to make sure that no one comes in. I laid my head down and waited for my tiredness to overtake me but instead I was met with one of the worst events of my life.

"Kelsie bring your ass here! Now," my dad yelled at me. I was seven at the time, just watching tv when I heard him call my name. I walked to where I heard his voice which was from the kitchen.

"Yes sir,"I asked him with a little fear in my voice.

"I thought I told you not to watch TV while I wasn't home," he said in a calmer voice. I was shocked by this mainly because this was the first time he said something to me instead of yelling.

"I'm sorry daddy. The TV was on when I came home and you always told me not to touch it."

"I did didn't I," he questioned himself. "Well I'm sorry then." With that he walked to his room and I walked to mine. It was three hours later when he called me to go to the living room. As soon as I got down there, I was getting the worst beating of my life. I kicked, screamed, and tried to hit him but he was quicker than me.

"Since you want to disobey me this is what you'll get," he said while pulling out his pocket knife.

"Noo-"

"Nooooooo please!!!" I screamed panting. I looked up and saw that I was still in Mrs. Evans classroom. Realizing that it was only nightmare, I tried to slow my breathe down so I can calm down. Once I calmed down, I looked at the clock on the wall and realized that it was five already so I started to get up. Once I was up I heard the door unlocking and Mrs. Evans walked in.

"You're awake I see," Mrs. Evans said walking to her desk. I nodded as she was sitting down in her chair "Well you can go but remember don't sleep in my class again okay Ms. Kelsie?"

"Okay Mrs. Evans," I told her walking out of the classroom.
